Hey Everyone,

I will first explain the set up. I have R6 cable running into a newer VCR, the VCR is connected with RCA cables running out to a Pioneer VSX-1016 receiver. The receiver then runs component out cables to a ceiling mounted Panasonic AE-900u projector.

The problem I am having is that all cable channes have scrolling lines in them. They are slow moving horizontal lines that continue to move up the screen. The lower channels are worse than the upper channels. No other tv in my house has lines on it after testing them... When I watch DVD's the lines are not there, only while watching cable.

I have checked the ground outside the house and its seems fine. I took some steel wool and knocked the rust off just to make sure. I also tried a grounded surge protector that didn't do anything at all. I am wondering what the next step is. I also tried moving my digital cable box from our living room TV to the basement set up and it doesn't make a difference.

I am running out of ideas and I hate watching my TV casue I can't stand the lines...! Looking for any suggestions.

Thanks in Advance!

~Ryan

It's almost certainly a ground issue, either the cable or your power. You're certain that both are properly grounded? If so, I would suggest you contact the cable company and have them come out and take a look. The problem could be farther out.

The Panasonic AE-900u is a 720p projector. It deserves more than that VCR. I would suggest you get the HDTV STB/DVR from your cable company. Connect it directly to your Pioneer VSX-1016 receiver with HDMI, and then connect the Pioneer receiver to your projector via HDMI. Digital channels and digital connections are not subject to the same interference as analog channels and analog connections like component.

You can order two inexpensive, quality HDMI cables of appropriate length from Monoprice.com.

No I am not sure that they are properly grounded. How do I check...?

I have been doing some research on a ground loop isolator. Would that do the trick if I were to keep the system set up the same?
