For the last year we've been having problems with our Mits WS-65813 losing horizontal synch or having the screen go blank. It was very temperature related, the hotter the temperature (e.g. 70 to 78 degrees F room temperature) the worse the problem would be to the point where we would have to turn the set off every 5 minutes to watch anything. We have an extended warranty and had several clueless technicians come out and blame the cables and so forth. Finally had a sharp technician come out who fixed this. He replaced a three pin 9V regulator, a BA09FP (Mits part number 270P677030). Yep, soldered it in place right on the spot and the Mits has worked flawlessly since then. $10 part and $240 labor, all covered by extended warranty. The technician thought that he had seen the heat sink get eliminated over the years on this part. I hope this helps others trying to fix this problem.

We don't use our Mits for sound at all, we only use it as a monitor, all sound goes through the separate stereo and speakers, so I can't answer this question, we would not have noticed one way or the other. Sorry!

Paul, I can't believe you actually saw that a year and a half later, awesome! My tech's asking if you happen to remember which board the regulator was on?
maybe signal board, terminal board ... something else. Or if you might have contact info for the sharp tech that sorted it out for you?

thanks again,
jb

Surface mount IC on the signal board, just behind the terminal board.
