View Full Version : Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3 All Confirmed For 2007
beatboy77 04-30-07, 07:50 PM From The Digital Bits today:
On the high-def front today, it appears that Sony has confirmed that both Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 will be released on Blu-ray Disc format before the end of the year (street date TBA), and it seems likely that Spider-Man 3 (which hits theaters this coming weekend) will be as well. Sony has made available a Best Buy-exclusive Spider-Man 3 Blu-ray bonus disc (free with the purchase of any other Blu-ray title) that includes the film's teaser trailer, both theatrical trailers and a 3-minute sneak peek featurette for the film, as well as a trailer teasing the first two films "Coming Soon Only to Blu-ray" and the standard Blu-ray promotional trailer. All are in 1080p video with Uncompressed PCM 5.1 audio. Likely all three discs will street day and date with the DVD release of Spider-Man 3 in the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year. In any case, here's a look at the cover art for the bonus disc.

It sounds like speculation to me ... I don't see anything official in that post. Most likely they will all release this year, but I think your title is misleading.
I've always expected all 3 Spidey films would be released on BD in 2007. That said:
it appears that Sony has confirmed
Either it's confirmed or it's not. ;)
beatboy77 04-30-07, 08:03 PM I have been told 10/30/07 for all 3 films, but I continue to wait for official word from Sony.
~Josh
eric10301 04-30-07, 08:04 PM Fantastic I cant wait to own all 3 movies on BD.
Iggster 04-30-07, 08:08 PM digital bits says sony confirmed it but where is the link to sony saying so?
YAWN....
These movies are the main reason I bought a Blu ray player to begin with!
Rob Tomlin 04-30-07, 09:15 PM digital bits says sony confirmed it but where is the link to sony saying so?
YAWN....
It's from The Digital Bits. You either trust them based on prior statements like this or you don't. I think they have a pretty good track record of getting these right.
To dismiss it outright just because Sony doesn't actually confirm it yet with a full blown press release seems a bit silly and short sighted.
hassoon 04-30-07, 09:21 PM Great news :) .
There's nothing odd-sounding about this news or beatboys inside info. It all sounds about right.
My most anticipated releases thus far :D .
The Digital Bits has a pretty good track record of new releases. Also, it is by no means going out on a limb to say all three Spider-man movies will be out in 2007.

Exactly.
GizmoDVD 04-30-07, 09:33 PM Wow, who'd a thunk all 3 films this year
How about you actually give release dates for all the delayed Sony and Fox titles instead?

Well, when I saw that the two spidey's are coming to blu-ray in the bonus disc, i pretty much figured it would be this year....good news...i'll be getting both of course, and the new spidey 3 movie looks like it's going to be FANTASTIC!

A pity folks don't direct this same zeal towards verifying chinese HD DVD player stories, eh?
Well, when I saw that the two spidey's are coming to blu-ray in the bonus disc, i pretty much figured it would be this year
Indeed, the bonus disc, itself, is telling evidence that the movies will be released relatively soon. Why go to the trouble and expense of a bonus disc showcasing the BD releases if those releases are a long way off.
I'm in for all three!
TwinTurboZX 04-30-07, 10:32 PM A pity folks don't direct this same zeal towards verifying chinese HD DVD player stories, eh?
OUCH!!! :D :D
vancouver 04-30-07, 10:49 PM As much as I want comfirmation with credible links for BD releases this is one rumour I think HAS to be true. Sony is in control of these movies and I just cant think of any reason why they wouldnt release them all before Xmas 2007.

Spider 1 and 2 are almost 100% certain to be out this year in Blu-ray...Spiderman 3? Maybe by the holiday season?

And as CES proved this Sony, Sony can announce away with hot titles, they just don't always plan on delivering them...
Dr Kain 05-01-07, 01:26 AM I just want the trilogy box set. OH, after reading the reviews on 2.1, I hope they give us the original version of 2, as the elevator scene is ruined in 2.1.
Lastly, Sony confirmed right on the freaking package of the SM3 preview disc that 1 and 2 will be out this year for BR.
lacombo 05-01-07, 02:00 AM holiday trilogy pack with a cool case and maybe a choice of 2 or 2.1 (still need to check it out)...
I'm not a big Spider-Man fan, but I loved the second one. I'll definitely get Spider-Man 2, on Blu-ray, when it comes out.
Like everyone else has said, even though Sony hasn't officially confirmed this, I have no reason to doubt Digitalbits. Additionally, it's not so far-fetched that these would debut this year, especially with that Spider-Man Best Buy Blu-ray sampler recently made available.
dwisniski 05-01-07, 07:48 AM These movies are the main reason I bought a Blu ray player to begin with!
Same here, I can't wait to get the Spidey movies in High Def! It sounds like all 3 will be released when Spidey 3 is released.

Rumour has it that Sony may use seamless branching to give us both cuts.
Can't wait to get Spiderman 1 - 3 trilogy boxset.
Guess it's about time to get rid of my regular DVD version........
(BTW, where is Men in Black 1 & 2, Sony????)
I will take them all in a boxset.
Blu-Devil 05-01-07, 11:05 AM I've got a feeling Spiderman 1 and 2 will be released around the same time as the new Sony BD player. Then Spiderman 3 around Christmas/November time.
help-r-monkey 05-01-07, 11:35 AM [QUOTE]Spider 1 and 2 are almost 100% certain to be out this year in Blu-ray...Spiderman 3? Maybe by the holiday season?[QUOTE]
I have to agree S1 and 2 will be out for the holiday season, however I really doubt the S3 movie will be out then. It will barely be out of the theaters by then. Ibelieve they will just release some BS bonus disk with trailers and cast interviews.
IF they actually do release S3, then I will really consider getting a BD player even if the unversal players are not down to my pricepoint yet.
UxiSXRD 05-01-07, 11:41 AM They should have done the first and/or second to coincide with the theatrical release of 3. I'd probably say do one with the theatricial release and the second either at the midpoint between or with the day/date BD release of 3.
Even with blockbusters, it's rare for a movie to not be released outside of 3-4 months tops. Spidey 3 comes out May 4, so we have every reason to expect a DVD/BD release on or before October.

Release windows for Theatrical film are 4-6month
The French version is coming out Nov. 4 (BluRay)
May 4th release would be release between September and November and Sony CAN'T MISS Xmas!
WirelessGuru 05-01-07, 12:38 PM Misleading thread title:

Misleading thread title:

This is probably more believable to you:
Walmart will release Spider-man 3 on HD DVD distributed by a Chinese studio named Disnei Soni. Walmart ordered 2 million copies and expected to sell for $5.99 each.
Why is it so hard to believe Spider-man 3 will be on Blu-ray in 2007? Why do you even need to confirm this?
Early November still gives 6 mos. for Spidey 3 to street. If they wanted to hold out, they could give it 7 months til December.
There are too many DVDs and Blu-rays to sell at Christmas for them to delay it any longer.
jon smith 05-01-07, 01:06 PM Why is it so hard to believe Spider-man 3 will be on Blu-ray in 2007? Why do you even need to confirm this?
Perhaps some people are after confirmation because the title of the thread says 'all confirmed for 2007', when there has been no such confirmation.
Just because a challenge has been made to the original comments does not make the challenger immediately anti BluRay or pro HD-DVD. I fully expect all 3 titles to be available this year, but the title claims confirmation, when no confirmation has been offered. If you claim something you can't back then surely you must expect other users to challenge it.
"Spider-man, Spider-man 2, Spider-man 3 all likely/probable in for 2007" would be a more accurate thread title. Although accurate, this title would not seem to suit the aims of the OP.
Unfortunately, the format war has put a stop to sensible debate - you can't seem to have a thread on release dates for exclusive movies without it turning into a format thread in one way or another.

HAHHA, ROTFL. That was a great post SydHD :D
AustinSTI 05-01-07, 02:55 PM OF the 3 Spiderman 3 is most likely to hit Blu-Ray this year. They'll probably street it same day as the DVD before Xmas...but until Sony confirms its all propganda and speculation isn't it
Dave Mack 05-01-07, 02:58 PM Of course they aren't going to miss the holiday window.
What are you kidding me..?

I heard that Disnei Soni was forced to retract their statement, but that fans are calling this a "non-denial denial" since they have "inside information" confirming the release. Walmart remains mum, which is also perceived as conclusively proving the rumor.

Nice.
Johnsteph10 05-01-07, 03:54 PM I fail to understand how the last series of posts have to do anything with the BD releases of Spiderman?
You guys need to seriously grow up. This is not a videogame forum. If you want to act like a fool, go somewhere else.
joe_six_pack 05-01-07, 04:20 PM If the 3rd one is good, I'll buy them in a box set. (liked the 2nd one)
Actually, I should get them in the box set anyways for the "in the rain" scene in SM 1. :D

That Spidey 3 has a date in France would seem to be fairly persuasive. Yes, I realize that most posters here aren't based there, but it only adds to the common sense conclusion - it will be out for the holidays this year (just like Pirates 3)

What in the world does this have to do with the main topic??????????
Any way you look at it, all of the Spiderman's will be released within 5 months of the movie's release. I hope it is a box set, however seperately is fine with me too... These movies plus all of the Disney/Pixar films will create a knockout punch that not even a few dinosaurs, a shark and an alien can help recover from.

They're poking fun at the Fun-yuns & Walmart deal, much as how you're poking fun at Universal's catalog titles.

I apologize unreservedly ;)
Spiderman 3 looks awesome. Can't wait to see that in HD.
Spider-man 3 is currently doing pretty well in Asia ...breaking box office records left and right.
I'm told Spider-Man 3 today opened bigger than 1 and 2 in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines. In terms of $$$, SM3 debuted in Japan with $3.47 mil, South Korea $3.46 mil and Hong Kong $958.9K. It was the biggest single day ever recorded in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines. In Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand and The Phillipines, the film outgrossed the combined opening day of Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2.

How do they get to see it before the U.S. does?
This is not to say that the U.S. is the center of the world (touchy, subjective topic ;) ), but it's usually either a simultaneous world-wide release, or a few weeks after the U.S. release.
Oh well. 3 days to go until I can finally stop treading forums so catiously to avoid spoilers :D

To lessen the financial loss due to piracy, Sony basically decided to release Spider-man 3 first in the Asia market.

OK I retract My previous statement, After the post with the pirates comment you guys are right and I will look forward to SM3 for the holiday season. I do think BB77 should change the title to rumored or likely rather than confirmed. He seems to have a very bad habit of making misleading tiltes for threads.

No reason to change the title as I have confirmed it with my sources.

paidgeek FROM SONY has already confirmed on a different site that both Spiderman 1 & 2 would be on Blu-Ray in 2007. If you choose not to believe THAT, then there is nothing more anyone here can say and you have no business then in this thread other than to start arguments.
It's really that simple...
I'll buy Spider-Man 2 and 3,The first one I can't watch cause the Green Goblin looks so stupid, and it's just not that good. Part 2 crushes it.

OK, so where is the confirmation on Spider-man 3? Other than a friend of the OP?
I just don't understand why people will accept conjecture as confirmation simply because there is a format war on and it suits their side. Both sides are guilty of this.

I don't think there will be a trilogy box set, basically because I think they are making a fourth movie.
Only time will tell.
I will probably buy all three no matter if they are together or individual.
At the very least they are enjoyable and great demo material.

P.S. I would like to add parenthetically, that the amount of time some people on forums seem to spend rolling on the floor, laughing (their asses off or out loud) etc. is quite staggering. Not that theres anything wrong with that... to each his own expression of joy (j/k, in case its not clear) =)

Because there was a huge holiday season earlier this week on Asian countries. Sony probably anticipate the launch to capitalize on that
How do they get to see it before the U.S. does?
This isn't unprecedented. I remember "Pulp Fiction" hit Japan about a week before its U.S. release. "Spider-man 3" actually had its premiere in Tokyo, and so did "Titanic".

Nothing in life is 100% sure...saying that, I'd be surprised if Sony doesn't release Spidey 3 during the holiday season and completely squashes Hd-DVd title sales by doing so.
