View Full Version : Need Pioneer plasma discrete codes for "Ant A" and "Ant B"

I have installed a client system in a condo where the cable service provider modulates some cable channels as analog and simply rebroadcasts others as ATSC, instead of having a consistent analog or digital scheme. To make matters worse, the Pioneer plasma TV (which is great otherwise) has a separate ATSC and NTSC tuner, using separate inputs, and which are not integrated in the channel scan to one seamless list, as it would be on a DirecTV H-20 receiver using satellite and off-air, for example. To complete the perfect storm of control hell, the TV remote only has an "ANT" button which toggles, instead of discrete codes for A and B. I am trying to make the system really user-friendly, but am running into trouble with channel macros, since I don't have the discrete ability to choose one antenna input or another.

Please help if you can. It will be mucho appreciado!! By the way, the remote is an RTI, but I can probably work with other codes. Hex would be great, even.

I have the 5070 and there are no discrete codes for the antenna A/B select. Since I only use one antenna input, this isn't a problem for me. Sending the ANT code will go to the last antenna you had selected before. I simply go to an HDMI input first, then send the ANT command.
I've researched this to death; however, if you want a second opinion, try posting in the Official Pioneer 507X thread in the Plasma forum.

Grimdeath,
Thank you for your response. I was afraid this was the case, as I, too, have researched it.

It is amazing to me that manufacturers don't do a better job with discrete codes, even hidden ones, so that integrators can positively control their components. Don't these guys know that people like us are making purchasing decisions in part based on how well we can control a potential product? This is not rocket science, you know!

Sad thing is it's probably only a firmware change.... such a simple thing to ask for.
I agree, it is amazing tha every new product doesn't have discrete codes for every option; - it's abhor able to only have a toggle power on/off on some products!

Would it be possible to abuse two of the favorite channel buttons to accomplish this? Set a single channel from each anntenna into each of two favorite buttons, then send the code for that favorite as a lead-in to setting the channel you really want. Also, if RS232 control is possible, I'm pretty sure you can select the particular antenna/channel combo directly that way.

With many TVs, pushing Channel Up will go to Ant A (or some other default input). You can then use that as a macro anchor. Have you tried that with the 5070?
