When I turned to either channel 94 or 731 tonight the screen was blank (normally if blacked out a text message indicating such will be present). Since I live in Northern California I am wondering whether I was blacked out of the game or whether DirecTV had technical difficulties. Did anyone catch this game in HD on DirecTV Extra Innings. Thanks.

I'm here in Florida and also there was no picture. I called Directv and after appeasing someone on the front line by resetting receiver (etc, etc!), she checked with programming and said they were having issue last night.

It's starting to get a little old. On Sunday, the early game ran late (which I understand), but then D* was slow in flipping the switch to the Mariners/Royals game that was supposed to follow in HD. I guess we should start tracking these issues. Appears there is a bigger problem going on over there.

....(as I too noticed there was no Gints-Rockies game on)...but was there an "issue" with the Brewers-Cards game too? Channel 730 had that game listed in the guide...but...no game.

I showed the FSN Bay Area broadcast of this game in SD on channgel 655. The same game was listed as a Major League Innings HD offering on channel 94, but since I don't subscribe, I couldn't see channel 94.

I would suspect that the agreement between MLB and DirecTV allows them to blackout the HD carriage locally.

Perhaps DirecTV didn't carry the Cardinals-Brewers game because it was on ESPN HD -- so why waste another HD feed on the same game?

I called about the Giants-Rockies game, too, and was told there was a technical problem. It never did appear.

During the Rockies broadcast, they said the game was supposed to be in HD, but wasn't due to the San Jose Sharks (?) game being played and HD truck availability. They said the HD broadcast was switched to Wednesday night. This was for Fox Sports Rocky Mountain. Not sure if it would hold for Bay Area as well.

It might well have.

The Sharks and Giants, of course, are on the same RSN, so it would have required not just a backup SD channel -- which is readily available -- but a backup HD channel, which probablky is njot so easy to get cleared.

jpco has it right, the Sharks game was shown on the main FSN Bay Area channel and also on FSNBA-HD, and the Giants game was moved to FSN+ and wasn't in HD.

Same thing happened to the Tigers on FSN Detroit. They haven't announced if FSN HD will add another Tigers broadcast to the season or not.
