Would like to order a Samsung HL-S7178W online, as prices are quite good on pricegrabber and other search sites, but am somewhat leery of doing so; such a large purchase and such a steep discount - so my question is,

Have you ordered from online vendors (NextStepPlasma, Butterfly photo, etc.) and if so, what was the vendor, the product, what was your experience, and would you do so again? Thanks much!!

got a camera from butterfly but thats about it, everything was good from the speed down to the quality of the device. Gonna probably pull the trigger on a tv soon from an online retailer myself so hope all is good lol.

thinking of getting a TV from somewhere along the lines of zoommania.com

I can't think of retailers names off of the top of my head. I have read about some that offer incredibly low prices (usually the lowest on pricegrabber with very few reviews). Some of them will require you to call them for confirmation. When you make that call they will try to sell you extras (in a harassing manner). If you do not purchase anything then the deal becomes void. Not to say that most retailers are bad, but I would be weary of the tv that is a few hundred cheaper then anywhere else that you have never heard of. Also, look for "refurbished" somewhere in small print. A lot of times that is the difference and it is not clearly documented.

Definitely use resellerratings.com or a similar site before buying from a store you've never heard of. There are tons of horror stories out there about people buying from an online vendor who had any incredibly cheap price.

that REALLY jogged my memory!!!

I remember prior to going to butterfly for my camera I went to another place online. I received a phone call from an arab man claiming the camera was cheaper there cause they were selling the overseas version. The con? Well he illeged that I needed to buy a special battery cause the overseas version of the camera did NOT take regular batteries which I still think was a crock but whatever he got pretty upset with me not buying anything else and before he could pull the deal, and I dont know if he was going to cause I really didnt care at the time, I myself yanked the deal off the table and just called butterfly.

and yes it was one of the lowest ranked places on froogle lol.

From what I can tell these places seem fine so long as you know exactly what you do and DONT want, you can talk to a salesman without having them walk all over you, and you dont make mistakes ordering.

A lot of the bad reviews for some of these sites I went and read, many of them have to do with HORRIBLE customer service after a mistake on the customers part. So my opinion so far is that if you know what your doing you will have much more success then random joe consumer who needs to be told what he wants...
