I have had the Motorola DCT6416 III in So Cal. for about 6 months. It has been bad since the first week. If I pause live TV and try to resume play, any time I fast forward the box freezes in a sense where it keeps fast forwarding until the end. It will not respond to any button presses on the remote. I frequently have to power cycle the box when it freezes up completely (losing the program guide for hours while it reloads). It has been frustrating, and I was excited to switch out my Moxi box for this one (still not as bad as Moxi). Other minor issues here and there but those are the bigger ones.

My questions I guess are:

Is this common?

Is my box still the most current one? Is there anything else in the works that is bigger and better?

See if you can get a 3416. Same thing, just the more recent model. If your local office lets you swap boxes there, just bring it in and ask for a 3416 and tell them this box is giving you problems. I had a 6412PII for a little over a year, problems kept accumulating and once it deleted all my saved programs off the DVR one morning, I no longer had a reason to put up with it anymore. I got a 3416PI, have only had minor problems compared to the 6412. It's not perfect, but it's a lot better than the old one.
