View Full Version : When is Blu-ray getting a calibration disc? WilliamG 05-01-07, 12:55 PM See topic! HD DVD has theirs (albeit with bugs), but where's the BD version huh? Huh? venk 05-01-07, 01:07 PM honestly, the HD DVD version of DVE didn't provide any significant improvements over SD Avia so i'd recommend not worrying about it and just using a current sd calibration disc. thebland 05-01-07, 01:11 PM Ditto...I did not need to alter a thing in terms of contrast / brightness going from HD DVD DVE vs SD DVE... My first copy of HD DVD was defective. I have a second copy but have not tried it out yet. WilliamG 05-01-07, 01:15 PM Interesting. Thanks for the info. :) Big Brad 05-01-07, 01:17 PM I think the main concern of many is that the color space on DVDs is a bit different than that of BR/HD. I don't think it would warrant a huge change in settings of color/tint controls, but it would give the user peace of mind. I have an HDA1 and cannot get DVE to work. I have test patterns on my PS3 hard drive that I've been using, and they seem to work out fine. They were posted here some time ago. -Brad sage 05-01-07, 01:18 PM I think the main concern of many is that the color space on DVDs is a bit different than that of BR/HD. You want to use a disc encoded for 709 to do your high def calibration. Taha24 05-01-07, 02:04 PM Avia 2 was announced, but who knows when that'll be released. InfernoSoul 05-01-07, 04:04 PM Yeah I remember back in November people were saying Blu-ray verison of Avia will be out in a few months so just wait until then, referring to buying Avia or other disc calibrator on the forums. Huh, it's already May I don't see no Blu-ray Avia. ;) qz3fwd 05-01-07, 04:07 PM If it anything like the HD-DVD version, you can expect it around 8 months after the initial release date announcement! Legairre 05-01-07, 07:03 PM This will be out in May: http://www.hqv.com/benchmark.cfm Or you can buy the Beta now on Ebay. :)Shouldn't a Beta be free? Who wants to pay for something that's not even production ready? AnthonyP 05-01-07, 10:04 PM there is also some calibration screens on some Sony titles |
