Just stopped in to Wallyworld to pick this up and like to know if anyone has seen this in either the HD-DVD or BD version? How's the PQ and SQ? Even though I'm format neutral decided to go BD on this one.

Well the best version is the HD DVD version in this case because Paramount like always screws over BD owners by putting a regular 640 kbps DD track on the BD version while giving the HD DVD version a 1.5 mbps DD track.

Video wise, highdefdigest gave it 5/5, so i'd say it should be great.

Im neutral as well but I always choose the version that has the best audio which in this case goes to the HD-DVD version. PQ & SQ are top notch. One of the best looking discs in awhile.

I overlooked the audio specs when choosing today, so I guess I'll be exchanging for the HD-DVD version.

Watched maybe 20 minutes of this last night. Really boring movie. To my eyes, the PQ was nothing special.

Very decent picture and a sharp soundtrack - and great extras. A very solid disc. I was going to get the HD DVD, but my 360 died on the weekend and I wanted to watch the movie now, so I went Blu - sounds great to my ears so I'm not regretting it. A very good movie that was overhyped at the theatre but I found much more enjoyable on disc. A solid effort from Paramount all around.

Also got the HD version for the better audio, but I think hidefdigest rated both versions 5 stars for PQ and 4 stars for audio even though they usually have at least a 1/2 star difference if one has lossless and the other does not

Personally I'd rather if there was a larger outcry for 7.1 releases rather then slight differences with lossless tracks.

I saw this movie in the Theatre...it was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. starts slow, but it is one of my favorite movies.

I considered this title, but the movie itself just isn't worth my money... regardless of audio or video quality.

Good choice. I wish it had been mine.

I did a direct comparison in the audio department as well as video for The Spot...even though the HD DVD is VC-1 and the BD is MPEG-2, they are both reference titles in video. As far as the audio goes, the HD DVD's 1.5 Mbps audio has slightly more depth than the 640 kbps BD release, but unless you can do an on the fly a-b comparison, I bet in blind tests no one would be able to hear the difference between the two. I rated them both equally in regard to the audio though in the end...both sound excellent, but left me wanting for lossless sound!

I hate Beyonce so I wont even see this movie. Plus I hate musicals too :P

Beyonce is the low point of the film. I don't really like musicals either(my favorite is southpark).

But Eddie Murphy makes the movie. If it wasn't for his performance I would sugest just throwing this in the recycling bin. Even if you don't like Eddie Murphy you'll like it anway.

You really do forget it's him. That makes it worth at least a HD rental.

I loved Chicago...this movie did not do anything for me. I am glad I rented it.

Forced myself to watch a bit more of this. It got very slightly better, moving from absolutely dreadful to quite poor. I suppose the PQ is OK, but not enough to make the viewing experience anything like pleasant.

The only things worth watching in this movie are Eddie Murphy and the "...and I am telling you" performance.

I loved the film. I'm not a big Motown fan but I really enjoyed this thinly veiled look at the music machine. I also enjoyed the occasional operatic outburst. The PQ is excellent and the 640 Dolby passes muster with me.
