I am about to pull the trigger on a PS3 in the next week or so and was wondering if Target still had the get a BR movie free with PS3 purchase? If not, I may go the Amazon route, or still may do Target with the excellent 90 day return and extended warranty I have read about.

If I were you, I would go the Costco route (if you have membership). Costco has a $699.00 bundle, PS3 60gb, extra controller and one game of choice, plus you get Costco's 2 year free extended warranty and free tech support. I got mine at BB but wish I would of went this route instead.

Good suggestion. That was my 1st stop but our branch did not have any PS3's.

What is target's extended warranty and how much is it?

i didn't get a free blu ray!!!

darn it.

i'm looking into getting the warranty. i know it's 29.99 for 3 years for anything under 500. i believe that it's 50.00 for the 3 year for 501-1000 electronics.

It's a three year warranty, and costs $59.00. If you want more information, check out the link or ask a "team member."

At my local Costco, they had them locked up in the back. I thought they were out too but I noticed a PS3 ticket buried next to the software titles to bring to a register. Maybe this is what is contributing to overstocked consoles. :D

Fry's does this as well. I actually bought my PS3 4-6 weeks later than I wanted to because I thought they didnt have any. Turns out they keep them in the cage.

Thanks for the suggestion as I do have a Costco card. So you get a free 2 year warranty? So it is not 90 days like the rest of electronics?

My bad. After further review I found that the electronics policy is 90 days for refunds, but they offer an additional 2 year extended warranty for computers and TV's only. I guess the PS3 isn't included, although you could argue that it's almost just like a computer. :o

So is the consensus to not buy it at Costco? Where should I buy from? I'd really rather find the 20gb version somewhere.

So would I, but I think we are out of luck getting a 20gb at this point. :(

if you want the 20gb, ebay is your only option. there are still new ones on there, but they have been pulled from production.

plus, that was what a lot of the "i'm buying it for bluray only" crowd went straight for, so they were in some demand.

No. I'm not sure why this is confusing everybody. For a certain few items, Costco gives you 90 days for a refund and a 2 year extended warranty. For everything else, you are covered by Costco's normal policy which is a refund if you are not satisfied with the product. There is no set time limit, but they do rely on their members to be ethical. So, for video game consoles, you are covered for a full refund with no set time limit.

This is incorrect. Costco changed their return policy in February. All electronics are now 90 days returns.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17350641/The article referenced from MSNBC is incorrect. Costco makes specific exclusions in their return policy (http://www.costco.com/Service/FeaturePageLeftNav.aspx?ProductNo=11204333)...not all electronic devices are excluded as noted on their website:

"Merchandise: We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell with a full refund. Exceptions: Televisions, projectors, computers, cameras, camcorders, iPOD / MP3 players and cellular phones must be returned within 90 days of purchase for a refund."

If a customer is not happy with a PS3 or HD DVD player purchased six months ago, there is nothing preventing them from returning it for a full refund.

Having mentioned this, I do wish Costco would revoke membership for those "gaming the system".

I'm sorry, but I am correct. Did you even read the article that you referenced beyond the title? Here's a quote from it: "The new policy, which the company quietly noted on its Web site, will give customers only 90 days to return televisions, computers, cameras, camcorders, portable music players and cell phones." Doesn't say anything about consoles, does it? Check Costco's website, it says exactly the same thing. All items that fall under the new policy are clearly identified on the product page. Consoles are not identified as being under the new policy.

My Costco does not give you your choice of game, but does give you Motorstorm. However, with the bundle you're only saving $10, so unless you REALLY want Motorstorm, it's probably not worth it.

However, the return period is MUCH longer than anywhere else on the planet, so that should factor into the decision.

Your correct, I didn't go into the details. Alot of forums and news reports have said "new electronics policy" so I kind of included consoles with this new policy change thinking it covererd all electronics. I guess this is now a big checkmark in the plus column. To me it's kind of a no brainer then, buy it at Costco.
