Caught a nice 1080 transfer of the 1996 BBC Film "Cold Comfort Farm" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112701/) yesterday; (a few more showings on the 9th (http://www.hdtvmagazine.com/programming/guide-program.php?k=MV0427350000&n=34763&a=1177992000)). John Schlesinger (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0772259/), who has directed a long list of notable films, handled this light satire. Theme wouldn't interest action-film buffs: Kate Beckinsale plays a young 1930s women who 'tidys up' a range of quirky rural characters dominated by an old woman who 'saw something nasty in the woodshed' as a child. Very nicely crafted. Some good Dolby 5.1, too. -- John
