I know you can enter IR codes mannuayl on remotes like the pronto, can you do the same on harmony ?

ie: "0000 006d 0000 0010 0180 0060 00c0 " etc...

I can't "teach" it the code as I don't have the original remote....

The original device that you want to control is not in the Harmony database? I believe those are the only two options, select the item from the database or learn directly into the unit.

Or one can borrow a remote which accepts hex and learn from it.

I have the same issue, or may have the same issue if I keep my 890. I amy want to send IR codes to the Leviton scene controllers. I was told that if you phone Harmony support, they can add the codes into their database for you and then you can program your remote. I have not tried this yet.

You can email the code in Pronto hex format to tech support and they will add it to the database. However it is very rare that you will need to do this as most commands will already be in the database....it is a very comprehensive database.

Actually it is rare to find the right code in the Harmony database.

They use generic codes, very few discretes

The sad thing is that the ability to enter Pronto codes manually used to be available on the Harmony web site. This feature was one of the first casualties of Logitechs "improvements"

well, I've emailed logitech the codes from this page:

http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/codes/sony/pc1271/

ie:
Light On
0000 0066 0000 0030 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 033E 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 033D 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 0018 0000 11DF

and they added them to the list, but they still don't work.

Is there are any reason in theory it shouldn't work ? They're just standard infared codes right ? not some pronto thing ?

Since you got the code from Remote Central (great web site BTW), perhaps they can help you over there. They also have a Pro Installer section where you can ask.

Did you just email the codes to their general support email box?

I have dozens of discrete codes for my TV and Yamaha receiver that are not in their database. I could teach them all to the Harmony, but would rather they were in the database so if I get rid of my Pronto I still have access to them.
