This is frequently asked. Scan the threads in this forum for titles with "component."

Vendors are not allowed to offer upconversion over component anymore, but firmware hacks exist to get around that.

The Oppo 970 is probably the best current player with a hack that is said to work well.

there's also the LG DVB418 that with hacked firmware will upconvert via component. There's a mega thread around here on it (including a link to the firmware). Check ebay and search for "DVB418". It can be had for $75 shipped. i have one and like it alot. I think it's out of production though. Beware that some displays might show MB enhancement with this player.

I also have a 970 and it a really good player that includes universal capabilities. refurb's of it can be had by calling oppo directly. I think it's $119 plus shipping. oppo's a great company. This player won't show MB enhancement.
