Last night at BB I saw the 5070HD BB version called the 5071HD. BB sales person said that the 71 is a newer model with newer "engine" inside that produces colors you cannot see on 5070HD.

I personaly think that is *S.

Pioneer does not list 5071HD on their website. However, if it is same as 5070HD, the picture quality is stunning. I am thinking of either getting a 58" Pana or 50" Pioneer. I dont usually consider bigger is better, but what appeals to the eye.

Anyone else has good experience with 5070 (71) HD?

The BB sales person does not know what he is talking about! They are the same models its just the 71 is the BB version. Go into the the official 5070 thread and you will find many happy users. :)

That is why I will never buy these kind of things from a brick and mortar store, especially BB. They are just punks that work there part time to make some money, they don't know anything about the TVs. The 71 is identical to the 70 in every regards, except that it has an extra, smaller remote. No differences internally. That kid should be fired for being an idiot.

If they fired everyone of the "mis-informed" there would be no retail stores at all to go demo them imo.
Personally I love going into a BB and "out-tech-talking" the floor staff, drives them bananna's.
Just be happy that they don't work for consignment, it could be worse or it might make them care a little more.

I heard one say the same thing that the 71 is a new model, that the 71 has a new & improved remote, that the black levels are better than a 70, that the 70 had tech issues & the 71 is the upgrade. Total BS but I guess that's what they are trained to say.
My xtra remote is still in the plastic...

They aren't trained to say that. The problem is a lot of the salesman regard what they hear another fellow salesperson say as truth. The problem is if the other person does not have all the facts strait. Alot of times they are going by hear say.

This is also true, one BB floor person confided to me after I schooled him on the 5071 inputs and stopped his floor model 6071 from doing the 12 blinking lights thing that a Pioneer rep gave him most of the knowledge he had...now that's scary.

The 6071 on the floor would not stop shutting itself down until I had the salesperson input 00000 in the TVGOS, he looked at me like I was a tech god after that, quite funny actually. He said the pio rep told him that it was caused by BB inferior split signal feeds to the TV, hilarious.

The only difference between the 5070 and the 5071 is that the 5071 comes with an additional remote, (which is pretty much worthless). Other than that, the panels are EXACTLY the SAME.

There is a little truth to that. If the signal is to weak then the TV will bounce into standby mode. However, the 12 lights should have been a no brainer for the pioneer tech lol.

so what is the difference between a 5070 and 5071?

as i said before, best buy and circuit city and hh gregg are some of the biggest problems with people truly understanding HD TVs..period.

The 5071 is a Best Buy model. It has an extra remote. Other than that they are exactly the same. Thanks for asking.

I think we need a Sticky Official Pio 5070 vs. 5071 thread.

for once i agree with dreilly...although i guarantee you that even if it were a sticky, someone would STILL start a thread asking what the difference was.
