Some background...
I've had a Pronto TSU2000 for (what seems like) several years now. It's worked well, but I'm finding I actually prefer to use the DVR remote when watching recorded shows because I like the hard buttons, and creating an easy-to-use layout on the Pronto has proven to be a challenge. I also am finding I would prefer a remote I can hold and operate with one hand.
I saw the 720 yesterday at Costco and it seemed like it might be a nice replacement for my aging (and hard to work with one hand) TSU2000.
My system consists of:
TV: Mitsubishi WD-62725 (DLP)
Receiver: Yamaha RX-V1400
DVD: Denon DVD-2910
DVR: Motorola DCT6412
I have discrete I/R codes for almost all operations of the above devices, and have the Pronto programmed to turn on the needed devices, go straight to the appropriate inputs, and so on. I do not need to be in some sort of 'known state' before kicking off a macro, the macro sends a "go to the TV input" message to the receiver (even though that button does not exist on the receiver's remote).
On another forum someone told me I'd be disappointed with the Harmony line after coming from the Pronto. This person was pushing the MX-900. But I've just read all the posts in the Official 720 Thread and am pretty convinced it would do everything I want (including being easier to use for the wife).
Then, during some poking around on the 'net, I found that J&R has the 880 for $160 (shipped free).
[I would have included the link here but the forum software won't let me]
So now I'm debating again, do I buy the 720 for $180 from Costco or get the 880 for $20 less. I like the idea of having the extra two icons on the LCD display, less page flipping...
Thoughts?
