thats ok. redundant threads are fine. thats why i started one that was also sort of redundant rather than just asking in an existing thread.

75U and 77U?

Thats pretty easy.. The 75u replaced the 6u and the 77u replaced the 60u. I just purchased a 60u becuase the price was right plus Panasonic has chose not to put fans in the 2007 models. The 2007 line gets Hot now and that is one of the major 3 elements that shorten the life of electronics. Plasma manufactures are at the end of their rope and now trying to make production cheaper. Lessening the quality of parts or deleting parts is the only way to cut the prices. Some people like the shiny black on the new Panny line but the glare is distracting for me.

I have been debating these two choices also and, other than cosmetics and dimensions (side speaker placement on the 77U,) the only difference I'm aware of is the inclusion of an anti-glare coating on the 77U. And the price differential, of course. Is my assesment correct? Also, does anyone have any information on how effective the anti-glare coating is? Tnx.

My thoughts on antiglare coating is that its a coating. And coatings can come off overtime. The 77u has a universal remote and the 75 doesnt. The dumbo ears of the 77u would give you a better stereo sound with greater speaker separation. Also the 77u has front AV jacks and the 75u doesnt.

Actually, it appears that the PE77U is the successor to the 6U while the PX75U and PX77 both replace the 60U.

Any coating can come off. I doubt, hope, that this will happen but whenever you mate two different substances there is a possibility of degradation.
