Just got home to find my contact at Sony has sent me these three films. I have viewed most of Donnie Brasco so far and all I can say is WOW! One of the best transfers I have seen thus far in HD optical!!

Stomp The Yard has both a PCM 5.1 Track and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track. I have not seen this yet on a disc.

I will do a formal review of Donnie Brasco later this week.

WOW great Josh. I wish I had a friend like that ;)

If it's not asking too much, can you post a picture with the cases opened? Might sound crazy, but I'm really curious about disc labels. :p

If you can, I'd like hear about the additions or deletions for this new cut of Donnie Brasco? Does it enhance the movie or does it ruin the pacing?

It's Sony, all the disc art is bland :\

Only movie that looks interesting is Donnie Brasco.

Donnie Brasco will be mine. The others, meh. Stomp the Yard is in the bottom 100 at IMDb and Blood & Chocolate has a 4.7 rating, so nah.

Why are people so caught up with ratings and scores of movies on other websites from other people?

Save money and time? I would not even touch a movie if it scores really bad.

Man Guys, I am telling you Brasco looks good!! The Sound is great as well!! It is sharp, colors vibrant, yet natural, free of noise, free of debris and almost grain free. I am completely impressed with this release :) This is encoded in AVC and it ranges from 27 to 32 MB's with its bitrate. It is a STRONG Recommendation.

I guess i'm just the type of person who makes up his own mind about things and doesnt let others tell me what to watch. To each his own I guess.

Let's put it this way. Checking the reviews and ratings for Gigli doesn't make me want to rush out and watch it anytime soon.

From DVDTalk's review of the DVD: Watching Donnie Brasco: Extended Cut at first, I only noticed one scene that was added: a dinner conversation between the gang after a brutal beating and killing of a rival. Going back and running my old DVD copy against this new one, I saw the new additions – mostly domestic stuff that further shows Donnie's gradual estrangement from his wife, plus the IRS auditing his family, Donnie walking Lefty's lion – but they added almost nothing to the depth of the film.

...With less bonuses than the previous DVD releases, along with some 20 minutes of extra footage that in no way significantly alters or expands on the impact of the film, the Donnie Brasco: Extended Cut is pretty pointless.

He also mentions that the director isn't credited with the extended cut, so it's likely he had nothing to do with this. It's too bad we couldn't have gotten the original cut of Donnie Brasco along with (or even instead of) the extended version. I may still buy this because it's in HD and I really like the film, and releases are coming slowly for the next few months (for me anyway). I just hope we get the original cut at some point.

I had the misfortune of seeing Blood and Chocolate in the theaters because my girlfriend loved the book. It was one of the worst movies I've sat through. The only thing that made it mildly entertaining to me (and infuriating) was the gross use of misinformation about absinthe. I was cringing the entire way through.

I've seen Donnie Brasco, Revenge, Stomp the Yard and Blood and Chocolate on BD. Donnie Brasco does look amazing, as do Stomp the Yard and Blood and Chocolate (especially Blood and Chocolate). Revenge looks very good. Closer also looks spectacular. Up next: Hellboy.

Stomp The Yard is not bad. I would say a 6-7 out of 10. It makes up for it in the drama, cinematography and some of the dance sequeces.

It'll definitely test your subwoofer.

Now that's a surprise, the codec of this movie is supposed to be MPEG2 according to a couple of sites (blu-ray.com and highdefdigest.com). I am happy that it got the high bitrate AVC treatment, this is a blind buy for me!

HDD said the same about Deja Vu, which according to their site was supposed to be a AVC release, yet it was VC1

I cancelled my preorder for Blood & Chocolate awhile ago, but darnit I like wolves and werewolf films! Then again there are a lot of really bad werewolf films.

This looks uncomfortably close to a horribly bad one that's name escapes me. It was a straight to video one about people in Ireland that could turn into irish wolfhounds. The only good thing about it was it's numerous softcore porn scenes. Even that wasn't enough to keep it in my collection though.

Well, the book is a young adults novel (13-18), so I'm not sure how much I'd expect from it. Most of them are universally bad.

So couldn't you tell us something about the director's cut of Revenge??? What is different from the theatrical cut????

Stomp the Yard is #44 on the IMDb Bottom 100. Happy N'ever After was there until earlier in the week.

Maybe Fox can get From Justin to Kelly fast-tracked onto BD and we can really start picking away at the list.

We already have 'The Covenant' and I think that was number one, at least on RT.

Plays fine in my PS3. Must be either a bad burn or your Sammy.

Well I'm assuming the "Extended Cut" doesn't cut anything from the theatrical release just add some pointless scenes. That's ok. Unlike Payback where they gave the Director's cut which did chop numerous scenes from the Theatrical release. Didn't care for the Director's cut and both should have been included on the disk.

I tend to be that way too. I don't ignore good or bad ratings but I usually don't let them determine what I'm going to watch. Basically if the trailer sparks some interest I'm going to at least rent the disc when it comes out.

Glad to hear Sony put out another fantastic disc but sadly Donnie Brasco just doesn't do anything for me... and my favorite five films of all time are mob films. Ah well, I realize DB does have a following and every quality disc is good for the format and high def discs in general.
