View Full Version : The Planet Earth cases are substandard crap!

These cases are the most poorly thought out cases I've ever seen. I can't believe they actually got these through whomever does product testing over at Warner. My discs keep poping off the center spindles and sliding around the cases and getting scratched. For $100 MSRP we deserve better.

Total crap!

THe case are fine, BUT the center hub should have used retainer similar to the first and last disc and not hyper small one..

...mine was cracked when I got it from Future Shop, and one of the discs was dislodged, and part of the side wall was cracked off, so, yeah, kinda crap... but nice and small on the shelf! :)

It wouldn't be such a problem if Warner would realize that most people purchase their software mailorder.

I can't even get the discs to stay on the center spindle, and I'm certainly not going to mail it back for the same crappy replacement.

Mine are the same way, every time I open the case the middle discs fall out. In fact, I can carefully place them in the case, close it, and shake it slightly and I can hear them fall out again.......Like someone else said, good thing for the Blu Ray disc coating.

well at least the transfers and subject matter are top notch, so we should be grateful for that- ill just buy a few of those after market blu ray cases.

Agreed, I have to find a way to expand that center hub without breaking it. Not too cool!

All true - but fixable. Put something small and flexible between the discs, like a squashed styrofoam popcorn or the white styrofoam spacer from recordable DVD package. I've wondered why discs aren't shipped this way from the factory.

Unfortunately for me, the broken pieces and dislodged discs were enough to damage the discs. My copy froze a couple of times during playback so I sent it off to Warner for replacement. The $7 it cost to ship it back is kinda defeating the discount.

UNBELIVABLE^^^^^^ Sony says BD is invincible and cannot be damaged.

Thats funny. All the copies from Netflix worked fine.

I thought I was the only one with a 'defective' case. I heard the rattling sound in the box and when I opened it, disk2 was loose. Fortunately the shiny side did not have a single scratch. Even when I reinterst the disk carefully, the slightest shaking will dislodge the disk --- very irritating.

I do like the fact that 4 disks fits in one slightly thicker case though, I have a problem with storing the shiny disk cases on my shelves (too many)... But it shouldn't have been that difficult to find a case where the disks stay put.

Amen! Not only is the 4 disc design retarded, but:

-When I got it in the mail, all of the discs were out of their hub.
-This is the worst case for taking the discs off of the hub. I swear I almost broke a disc because it wouldn't come off.
-The transparent plastic on the front that holds the sleeve in, is too loose or something. The printed sleeve moves around a lot.
-The blue plastic seems more flexible than normal, making it feel more sloppy.

My case is intact and undamaged, but it arrived with disc 3 loose, and even though the hub piece is visually fine, the disc will not remain on its tab even through being gently placed back in the rack. It is now residing in a separate case.

All these new HD cases are crap.

I'd wish they go back to the original Amarays.

my disc 1 was loose when I received it from Amazon but the disc plays fine and I don't see any scratches

I agree the case design is very poor

I would have much preferred the packaging of Smallville rather than the stupid cardboard box Planet Earth comes in so they could get that skinny case.

My disc set came in today and has the right Blu-ray important notice and all the discs are in their holders. I think this is the second batch. Doesnt feel cheap at all.

Oh but wait..the spindles are still small. I guess I was lucky.

A couple of my discs were loose, but no damage to the discs or the case. Just poor spindle design, cause it is really easy to knock them loose.

Because it would increase unit cost by two cents. Penny wise, pound foolish...
