A couple of months ago, it was reported that some Fry's stores still have the Sony units. Otherwise, you'll have to set up a PC or Mac with a HDTV tuner card, a big hard disk, and suitable software. ftaok 05-03-07, 07:45 AM Don't forget the Tivo Series 3. You'll need to pay a monthly fee, but you do get dual tuners. jtbell 05-03-07, 12:26 PM Oops, forgot about that one! Probably because I'm allergic to monthly fees for TV. It's also kind of expensive to begin with, but it sounds very nice otherwise. Besides the monthly fee, the main problem I have with it is the need for a phone or Internet connection. I still have only a dialup Internet connection at home (I can do broadband at work ;) ), and no phone jacks anywhere near the living room. So in addition to the TiVo monthly fee, I'd have to add broadband internet service, plus the initial cost for a wireless connection between the TiVo in the living room and the router which would probably be in the home office / junk room (formerly third bedroom). qz3fwd 05-03-07, 01:18 PM If you have a computer and network, you could just get a HDHomeRun or other PC tuner and record both OTA HD and clear QAM cable HDTV. |
