I could search through hundreds of postings for this, but I'd rather use that time enjoying my new 8300HD :)

One question: Is there any way to transfer the video files from the DVR to a PC or Mac, either using the firewire or USB port? I read part of a thread about the firewire capture, but it says it's only to capture live TV, which is great, but somebody wrote that transfer of the files is possible using the USB port, but I couldn't find any thread on that. Can somebody with the right knowledge illustrate a newbie on this?

Thanks

I have the same question... I want to get the recordings off my HDDVR onto my computer so i can burn them to a dvd, but am not sure how this is possible.. and there doesn't seem to be any info on here (only for live recordings). Any help appreciated!

Sebaz, well i kinda figured out a way to do it. If you can get a tv tuner card for your comp, you can hook up your computer to the DVR and whatever you play on the dvr will play on your computer, and you can record it that way. Its not as simple as transferring the file but it works. Not the best quality tho... its only a temporary solution.

Well, but TV tuner card will have either RF or S-Video inputs. The problem with S-Video and the SA 8300 HD is that everything that is widescreen comes out with those damn grey bars on top and bottom and there's no way to get rid of them. I mean, you can process the file in the computer and crop them, but you don't get real anamorphic widescreen to re-encode to DVD, so the quality you get is inferior.
