Ok So I just bought a sony KDS50A2000 tv, I have a yamaha surround sound system and just had the cable box installed today. I'm watching the red sox/A
s game and notice its not in surround but in stereo..i pay no attention just thinking nesn isn't in surround, anyway....i decide I want to play some PS3, so i switch the input on my TV to the ps3 or HDMI 1 input, the yamaha reciever was still set to the cable box however and BAM surround kicked in...i switched back to the HDMI input 2 to see the game and the reciever went back to just stereo. why is this happening? I assume it has something to do with the HDMI cable sending the audio to the television, but is there a way to stop this? I connect both my ps3 and cable box to the TV via an HDMI cable, but i have optical audio cables connecting to my reciever. please help!
My gear:
Cable box: scientific atlantic explorer 8300HD
Receiver: Yamaha YHT-6030
