While watching golf channel today it just felt like I was watching an endless stream of commercials. So I decided to keep track for a while. Here is what I got.

Commercials beginning time-end time:

2:02 - 2:07, commercials 5 minutes, and golf for 7 mintues
2:14 - 2:18, commercials 4 minutes, and golf for 4 mintues,
2:22 - 2:24, commercials 2 mintues, then golf for 7 minutes,
2:31 -2:36, commercials for 5 minutes...

When golf channels comes back from commercials they nearly always have a commercial for their upcoming program which is included in the above times. These times do not include the other commercials, such as Fedex cup, during the actual programming.

I kept track of another half hour prior to that but I did not write the exact times down. If this is normal then it is no wonder the public is turned off commercial television and networks. I almost never watch golf, and most other sports for that matter, live for just this reason.

Is the Golf channel worst than network televisions on the weekend? I will post later if I get the chance to watch this weekend.

it is almost as bad on the weekends. i never watch golf live anymore - always on the dvr. my favorite is when they come back from a 4 min commercial break, show one shot and one putt, then go out to another break. it used to take me just under an hour to watch usa's 2 hour weekday coverage, and i am sure the percentage is about the same with tgc. for weekends, it is probably still close to 50% commercials, promos, 'meet the players', commentators, etc.
