so i got the game today and all excited to get online and play against others...then it said it got some update i need to do. i try to do the first update and it said it failed to connect..then try again and same thing and then try again and said it couldnt find an update...try again and again...same message.

It is just a update for the game..it has nothing to do with online but you must update before you can go online. have you played the game at all on your system..offline?

ok rebooted my router and modem..it is still stuck at the same screen " game update in progress. please do not reset or switch off your ps3 system."

the status bar just stuck at like 0% and doesnt seem to be moving at all. and then after like a min..it said "game update could not be found."..and all i can select is "ok."

maybe there update server is having problems...give sony a call..you could also get another copy of the game. It does the language thing..but english is 1st so it's not a big deal.

I have seen where you need to update the system and reset your internet settings and then do the software update

i was also having problems in the beginning and then found out that the firmware on my router needed updating. After updating I have not had a problem with the ps3 online

Online will suck until they fix the boost cheat. Just a warning.

wait till you get to the level 4 races in the game..if you beat them.. you will do better online..esp after they fix the boost glitch. All the headache to get online... to get your a** kicked..huh

curious...what is the boost cheat? describe it so i can look for it and see if im getting cheat so i can quit the race.

Man... Vincent always something with you my man. Listen have you read the original PS3 manual? If so there are few instructions to open up all ports on your router for all PS3 stuff related.

It helped me a lot with my connection etc.
