Okay, I am getting frustrated here. I am having problems with my PS3 saying "you have been disconnect from the access point" and then it signs me back into the network, then I get disconnected again. It keeps doing it over and over again..

My Wireless is working perfectly as I am typing this over a wireless laptop. I can even go into the playstation store and download something and it stays connected that whole time. But if I am sitting at the XMB or in a game it will keep disconnecting me and then signing me back in.

Can someone help? I am about to pull my hair out.

Thanks

I don't know if it's a typical PS3 problem or not, but i bought the PS3 yesterday and have had absolutely no problems with the wireless connection. I have the D-link 655 router if it's any help.

Yeah, I have had mine for almost 5 months now and never had this problem, thats why it is bothering me! I have a linksys router and it has always worked great. Anyone have any other thoughts?

What channel wireless are you using... try channel 11..Also are you using "b" or "g" mode?

I guess I don't understand the channel of wireless, where is that set up at?

It is in your router setup page..open your browser and type in the url http//192.168.1.1
then enter "admin" as the user password
go into wireless settings and look at the channel there..change to 11 and save

I had much the same problem as you describe. I moved my wireless router over 8 inches and up 6 inches and the problem has disappeared. Also when I did this the signal strength increased. It seems that the PS3 may be very sensitive when it comes to picking up the signal. Give it a try, can't hurt. Good luck!

how do you tell your signal strength on your ps3?

I changed it to channel 11 and it is still doing it. I tried moving my router yesterday and it didn't help, but i will try it again.

Its just so weird because I got my ps3 in january and this just started happening yesterday. I have had fw1.7 for a while so I don't think that could be the problem

call Sony..they will help you. did you add any wireless devices in your home recently?

nope, nothing new. I am wondering if someone around me may have. I did a hard reboot after changing to channel 11. It seems to be holding good for the last several minutes. Hopefully that was all it took. Wish me luck, if it continues I may have to call sony, but for now it seems to be back working. Thanks for the help!

I've had this problem since launch. I just gave up and hardwired it.

I had (well still have) this problem as well. I did some research on it. Apparently, if the PS3's wireless signal strength goes below 75%, it will disconnect from your access point until it goes back above 75%. Sucks for most people with this problem, because it usually jumps around 70%-85%. Many people have said that disabling the SSID Broadcast of your router will help you. You do this the same way you change the channel. I did this, and while it did work, it messed up my computer's wireless settings and it wouldn't let me connect (even though I manually entered the SSID) to my network. So that idea is out the window. I'm leaving the country next week for about three weeks, but when I get back I'm going to order one of those high gain antennas to increase my signal, and see if that works.

Good luck, if you find a solution let me know!

Yes the SSID is a quick fix but it can cause some problems elsewhere for some. Like you said the PC then wasn't happy at all. A good fix that I have heard from some is to bypass the PS3 wireless altogether and yet still go wireless: get a wireless gaming adaptor such as the WGA54G (http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-WGA54G-Wireless-G-Gaming-Adapter/dp/B00009X6DT******pd_bbs_1/104-8006459-6287913?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1178343368&sr=8-1).

That game adapter works pretty well and I am using for a 20GB PS3 (and a PC before that). It has has much greater range and supports higher data rates than any of the builtin wireless stuff we have (laptops, PSP, DS). Our cordless phone still knocks out all of our wireless though depending on the channel it picks when in use (I would guess about one time in 20). Hitting the channel button on the phone fixes that but if I had to live or die by wireless G I'd be dead by now... Should switch to new freq phones I guess.
