I've been googling around for the past week or so trying to find a solution to this problem.

I know a good number of PS3 owners here have this blue tooth keyboard, but as some of you know there is a problem with the touchpad (mouse) not working in yellow dog linux. (It works fine in the XMB though.)

Does anyone know of any fix for this? As I've said I've done some searching around and here are relevant links to the problem being discussed:

Describes a fix (for general linux?) but is way over my head (can anyone explain the instructions, but step by step?):
http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-usb-users@lists.sourceforge.net/msg17777.html

Describes another fix to the problem by updating the kernal:
http://www.yellowdog-board.com/viewtopic.php?t=1877&sid=f1ed78ff60c36559534d79fd54a5c614

Anyone get their diNovo Edge's touchpad/mouse working in YDL by any of these or other ways and can offer some insight? It's a pain bringing back the mouse back and forth from the PC to the PS3 trying to figure out solutions.

I sent an email to the guy who wrote the general linux solution asking him how to use his code and this his response.

A friend reported that the newest kernel from kernel "dot" org (I can't post URLs) works out of the box.

I am not sure how load a kernel yet since I just installed linux or if you can even install the ones from that website on yellow dog. I guess I will have to do some more research.

Sony just released a 2.6.21 kernel for the PS3.

Wow wow!

First off, I *also* e-mailed the person who came up with the Edge fix yesterday! What a coincidence.

I asked him how to to do it in YDL and he also mentioned for me to download the latest kernel because it was already fixed (months ago at that).

Second, WHERE did you hear that Sony released a new kernel for the PS3?! That is exactly the version I think we need. It should already have the update installed. But is that for Yellow Dog Linux or any linux PS3? Any idea where we can get it?

LASTLY:

This might be of help to some people who are still running YDL 5.0. Kind poster named elec from the yellowdog forums decided to post his own custom kernel for use with Yellow Dog Linux PS3! It includes the diNovo Edge fix so your touchpad will work. However, as mentioned this is for 5.0 so you will have to trade the wifi capabilties for the Edge's trackpad to work. (It works great! Even the left pointer mouse button.) If anyone needs help installing his kernel please let me know, I had zero trouble with it.

I dunno what to do now. I have installed elec's custom kernel but without wifi I can't really see any point in using it because I need internet access on my PS3 and I can't have a wired connection...

Such is life.

Someone on the Gentoo forums posted a link to a new version of the PS3 ADD ON CD iso (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-4041698.html#4041698).

I must have been under a rock. Is there a version of Linux for the PS3 that enables wifi?

Yes they recently came out with an update for YDL to have wifi.

Other distributions also support wifi on the PS3 too if I am not mistaken.

I've extracted the files to the correct locations. I replaced my kboot.conf with the one made by electrozen on his tutorial linked above. I reboot and it stops at kboot. What did I do wrong?

Thanks

Hey guys,

I just got YDL 5.01 installed and touch pad on Divono Edge isn't working. Anyone know if Upgrading will loose ntfs and/or wifi support?
