View Full Version : Is this possible?

I have a Panny EH75 that, without any prodding from me, divided a movie (it was a timer recording). There's one word of dialogue missing at the point of the break. I'd like to put these two pieces together, but Panny says divided movies cannot be rejoined. I don't doubt this within the Panny framework, but I've dumped both pieces to a RAM disk and I wonder if I can merge them in my PC. If so, what software would I need and where can I get it? I'm not going to spend millions for this; it's only a movie. But I wonder if it can be done?

Thanks!

VideoReDo (http://www.videoredo.com/) should be able to do it. I use it all the time on files I've imported from my Pioneer DVDRs (although I'm not sure what format they're in on a DVD-RAM disc).

It seems strange that your Panasonic can't rejoin those 2 programs? I have a much older Panasonic E100 and I am pretty sure I can do that. I haven't tried it but I think "Play Lists" should do it?

My E95 with it's TV Guide feature did that to me once. I have only used it twice to record 3 programs back to back using the TV Guide feature. I wanted it to make one long 5 hour program that I could divide later. But no, it did the dividing and divided in the wrong place. Next time I will try to use the manual timer like I am used to using on my E100.

By "timer" recording do you mean you just hit the "record" button several time, or do you mean a schedule program using the EPG? Regardless, as a new EH75 owner I would like to know what I can do to avoid this. In general my program EPG recordings are two hours or less (to the HDD) so it may not be an issue. Is there something in the Setup menu that I can do to be sure this does not happen to any other recording?

PatH, the only thing I can think of is if the total program length exceeded eight hours. That appears to be some architectural limit with Panasonic hard drive machines. I assume it is some indexing issue. The machine will always create a new title after eight hours of recording. This is in the manual, but like most things in the manual, it isn't very clearly stated.

You can always combine the two titles, assuming the combined total is under eight hours long, using playlists. I do this frequently.

The "playlist" function (as far as I am concerned) is far superior and much more straightforward on the -E100 as compared to the later generation units.
This is an area that Panny messed up on when then changed the interface! :(
