I'm really surprised (and upset) because this device (which would be excellent otherwise) doesn't output real 16:9 from the S-Video output, only 4:3 and it adds two grey bars if the source is widescreen. This makes it pretty much useless for recording shows to DVD or the computer. Has anybody found a solution to this, some hack to enable real 16:9? If not a hack, is there a simple adapter for converting component to S-Video, or is it an expensive transformer?

Could this work?: http://store.infocus.com/escalate/store/DetailPage?pls=infocus&bc=infocus&tab=desc&pc=SP-VIDEO-ADPT&

Thanks

What software? Passport or SARA.

With SARA you could get anamorphic (ie, 16:9 widescreen no bars) from SVideo using the (box's) Zoom modes. Worked out well. Dunno about Passport though.

Ooops I forgot to mention that. I have Passport.
