They blow because I am totally spoiled by these HD formats and can no longer watch standard DVD's! What's worse is, when I scan through the upcoming new releases, many of the titles that I'm interested in are still coming out on standard DVD only. I can be patient for catalog items. But come on studios, let's get the new stuff out on the HD formats as well!!! :D

I returned a Blockbuster BD in store and got a free DVD rental the other night.

I about gagged within the first 5 minutes.

I tell people this...

The transition from DVD to BD/HD-DVD isn't all that noticeable at first when you have no idea what to look for, but after a while, the transition back from BD/HD-DVD to SD is enough to make you bite your tongue... :D

Now, now, let me help, I'll take your new projector off your hands and replace it with a 27" Sony Trinitron (one of the best CRTs ever made). then you'll find your DVDs tolerable again. I'll even find a new home for those silly HD-DVDs and Blu-Rays you just bought. Just let me know when you want to do the exchange. :D

Or you can be like me running to the nearest Going out of Business CompUSAs to pick up some HD movies at 40% off. Classics like "Saw II", "Saw III" ", etc.

The Comp USA close to me is already out of everything worth getting. Unless I want MS-Vista for $99.00.

DVD for new, big releases or HD for old, catalog stuff. Sounds like I make the right choice (DVD.)

It's all about DRM and pirating films in near master quality.

If you are so uptight about DRM, why are you bothering to buy DVDs ? I don't expect any of the DRM schemes for Blu-Ray/HD DVD to be any more effective than it was for DVD. If you are going to be truly principled about your opposition to DRM, I think you should trash your DVD collection and boycott all products with DRM content. :)

I don't think he buys, hence the "all about pirating" comment.

I haven't bought a DVD in years either. Even if it is a good transfer on the original DVD, it doesn't look like HD(obviously). So I just stopped buying them and just download. I can see a difference in some movies, King Kong was terrible with all the compression. But I own it on HD-DVD now...
