i'm currently using Time Warner Houston digital cable, with the hd plus package and 2 digital converter boxes at $7/m each.

recently i received a letter stating the converter boxes will change to $8.99/month starting in june. this has me wanting to go to satellite and cancel the cable service. well, that and the service has been rather shoddy and we still don't have espn2, nfl network (tho that's nfl's fault i hear), and it costs quite a bit. also i'm pretty pissed that the de la hoya/mayweather fight tomorrow night wont be available in HD.

my main concern with going to satellite would be the entry cost and reception during foul weather. i hear a lot of ppl saying when it storms the reception gets poor enough to the point where tv is unwatchable. we get stormy weather quite often especially in spring. tho at times when we get terrible weather here in houston the cable could go out as well.

can anyone with experiences with both satellite and cable share some of their experiences with the two? is there any 30day no commitment type deals with directtv and dish network? which would be better between dtv and dish?
