I wish to stream from my Windows XP computer captured HDV files from a Canon HV20 high definition camcorder. I can have a wired connection to the media extender and would connect the extender to my DVDO VP50.

Any recommendations on an extender that works out of the box please. I do not want to "hack" any software to get the extender to work. I just suck at that sort of thing.

I have an Xbox360 all set up, but unfortunately, that will only see a WMV file unless the Xbox360 is streaming from a Windows Media Center computer. So I wish to purchase an extender that will see and stream the captured HDV file to my LCD.

thanks in advance.

I have been using a Snazzi 1350, part of the Sigma Networked DVD / Media Extender family, to play back DVD's, Divx, WMV HD, HDTV recorded on computer over a network. It's hard wired so the connection is not an issue.

I saw posts on the internet of people using the Avel Linkplayer without any problems. This player is also part of the Sigma family. I downloaded and tested some short mt2 files on my Snazzi and they played great at 1080i.

I just got my Canon HV20 on Friday and recorded a 45 second clip and started playing around. I can play on the Snazzi when capturing with Adobe Elements 3.0 and HDV split but the clip is having stuttering and audio drop outs. Neros captures are not working at all yet. The issues are at the same points reguardless of the capture software. The clips play fine on my Vista computer. So at this point I am looking at capturing to perameters that will work well with the Snazzi. Here is a link to the Linkplayer:

Other media extenders / DVD players in the Sigma group are IO Data, Snazzio, Buffalo, Zensonic (Siova?), Neodigits, Tvix, Pixel Magic plus a few others.

As a follow up I burn the files that were stuttering to a DVD+RW and both played fine from the dvd tray. My understanding is OTA HD is broadcast at 19.2 mbs or less and all my OTA HD files play fine no issues over the network. HDV is at about 25.2 mbs and that could be the problem. Time for more experimentation.
