My parents DVD player broke last night so I need to pick one up. Nothing fancy, just the best DVD player for $100 or less. Anyone have any suggestions?

Anyone have any suggestions? Tulpa 05-05-07, 11:39 AM For that price, just about any major brand would do. You could get Sony, Toshiba, Philips with progressive scan for about $50, actually. Do they have an HDTV? You can get Toshiba, Samsung, LG, or Panasonic players with upconversion for at or just below $100. I think Sony has one for just over. blanger 05-05-07, 11:52 AM No their TV is not HD. Yes you're probably right, I checked around and came up with the Sony DVP-NS75H which seems to get very good reviews. It's just under $100. Tulpa 05-05-07, 12:05 PM That one is probably as good as anybody's. It's got upconversion, so if they ever do get an HDTV, that player will work nicely. If they never intend on getting an HDTV, I'd look at a cheaper Sony or some such, but that's just me. (Upconversion on a player that'll never be hooked to an HDTV is kind of just overkill.) |
