I got my Oppo 981 today and connected it to a Samsung 61" 1080p DLP set. For some reason, all I get is a green screen via the HDMI connector. When I use a rca plug its fine, but only shows in 780p and I can't get it any higher like the 1080p i was expecting. I was thinking that becusae its not on a HDMI cable though? So whats up with the green screen, any ideas? Sound is there, just no picture.

Does anything happen when you stop playback and cycle though the resolutions with the HDMI button? Any info on the screen?

Else: connect using a composite or s-video cable so you can see the Oppo menus, and tell us everything listed on the first menu, and the last two menus.

If I stop playback and cycle the hdmi menu, the green screen just stays green. However, the Oppo shows 1080-I6.

Going through the Oppo menu doesn't show anything that would affect this. The menus are just General, Video, Audio. The video screen just lists sharpness, brightness, etc.

Heres a strange thing though, the tvi doesn't detect any inputs when the Oppo is connected to the HDMI2 port. This is a refurbished Samsung and the Oppo is the first thing that its been connected to.

So you haven't used any other HDMI device with this TV? Maybe it's busted. Can you borrow any other HDMI device to test this?

Cable box via hdmi does the same thing. But it comes on for about 5 seconds then its back to the green screen. Samsung guys says its the settings in my cable box and to try s-video, which works, but I should be able to use HDMI, right? I don't even know how to adjust any settings in my cable box

If two different devices are doing the same thing then the display seems to be the culprit.
