This is new construction and already have the rough ins for the TV and will put blocking in this weekend. I have searched this site for a while and have not seen much discussion on this subject. It will be at a perfect viewing angle while in bed in my opinion. Any ideas if plasma or LCD would be a better choice? duffman13 01-15-09, 03:34 PM lcd is generally lighter, so i would think that would be the better tv to put in a ceiling avphileinky 01-15-09, 03:42 PM I have been worried about the Flat Panel working properly facing down at a 30degree angle. But have seen some mounts tilted down quite a bit in bars and such. joemama127 01-17-09, 12:06 AM It wouldn't tear the tv up if that is what you're asking...although you would run into some unique logistical problems. First would be installing an electrical outlet in your ceiling...then you would want to have attic access to run all of the other wiring across the ceiling and then down a wall near where you will have you cable/sat box, dvd player etc.. To me it sounds like something you would want a professional installer do since you could really screw things up and end up having to call one anyway.:p As far as which tv is better...doesn't matter as long as the installation is done correctly and it's secured. Since bedroom tv's are mostly used at night, there isn't any reason not to go with plasma. avphileinky 01-17-09, 11:57 PM I already installed an Arlington tv box in the ceiling and ran a 2" conduit from that box to the equipment rack. Im installing 2x12 blocking well secured to the rafters so provided the bracket is capable of holding the weight i should be fine. I have been leaning toward LCD thinking it may function better. http://www.aifittings.com/whnew98.htm MikeBiker 01-18-09, 10:37 AM I would worry about the glass screen of a plasma cracking in the horizontal position. An LCD should be fine. |
