I just got a 42inch LCD HTDV and I was looking for ways to make SD non HD content look better. I ran across couple hardware solutions like StartTech VID2VGATV, dvdo iscan and Algoliths device like Mosquito, DragonFly, Flea and Flea HDMI. I also ran across an article (google "Dscaler HDTV" its the top hit at engadget) that uses an open source sofware called Dscaler that will de-interlace and output in 16:9 aspect ratio.
Will DScaler make a difference that is worth setup a pc to run my Satellite input through. Should I save up and money and look at a hardware solution? I would appreciate any input to help me decide on what the best course of action is.
Please just focus responses to how to make NON HD content look better. I have a HDMI DVD player that outputs 1080i and an over the air antenna for my Broadcasted HD content.
