Is it me, or is the back stop really grainy tonight? Looks terrible on TWC San Antonio.

Not just you. The picture is really off tonight. I'm assuming it's got to do with the extreme sun/dark issue with the sunset. I guess it should get better in a bit when the sun goes down far enough. Late afternoon TV Broadcasts have always been tough on cameras.

The PQ is so bad tonight that it makes me sick. I have friends over to watch the game and it's embarrassing.

I keep telling them FOX baseball and football look nothing like this. It's not my display. It's ESPN!

The center field camera shot has so many compression artidacts (grain), it looks like it's raining in SF. ESPN and or D*, this is not even close to satisfactory!

PQ looks fair to me on Comcast. CF camera looks edge-enhanced but other camera look fine. I think most issues are due to the sun/shadow issues.

the only thing i notice, (whenever the phils are in SF) is that woman anouncer.
she has the most irritating voice i can imagine for an announcer.

You should try sitting in the stands with a speaker above you. You will get a headache. She's extremely annoying. I'm a Giants fan, but I would trade for Bob Sheppard anyday.

The PQ improved when the sun went down and the stadium lights took over. However, even then the compression artifacts (mostly from the center field other longer shot cameras) were bad.

I never get that simmering from the stands and artifacts from the center field camera OTA.

Ever since day 1, Renel was horrible as the PA announcer. She got the gig having no prior experience and has not improved since.

You mentioned Sheppard, I'd even take back Sherry Davis. Davis was the first female announcer in MLB, for the Giants, and did it from 93-00, but was dumped to have a new voice for the new ballpark, another one of many dumb moves from Peter "I heart Barry Bonds above all else" MacGowan and the rest of the ownership group.

Apparently she is now the PA announcer for St. Mary's (Moraga, CA) Women's Basketball. This is a good article about how she was dumped in a messed up way and how at least she is somewhat enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

I can't believe you guys are making that big a deal about a PA announcer. I've been to over 100 games in the new park and it hasn't bothered me at all.

The new score board is, at least, 1000 times better than the old score board.

The TEX Vs NYY game on ESPN HD, tonight, has 1000 times better PQ than the game on Sunday night. No compression artifacts. The PQ is crisp and clear. What gives?

BTW, the estimates of exactly how much better the PQ and score board are ... represent approximations and may not be scientifically provable.
