fiveprime 05-07-07, 01:18 PM A lot of the stuff on TNT HD looks pretty bad for me. I've never really thought about why... I just don't watch it. I have Comcast cable.

hmmm...well I wonder if I should call dish network? Cuz when u want to watch the NBA playoffs in HD u have no choice but to watch TNT
It looked pretty good on DirecTV. Certainly the equal of ESPN PQ.
OniKoroshi 05-07-07, 01:24 PM Looks great on TWC. PQ in some NBA matches are better than others though.

oh really...cuz ESPN looks good...I wish all the games were on ESPN or ABC...lol...but maybe i'll ask Dish Network if u say Direct TV looks good
From various Internet forums the concensus seems to that TNT -HD generally is bad on all systems EXCEPT for the regular season NBA which was not bad.But the playoffs are really bad, again on any system.

well that sucks
jwebb1970 05-07-07, 01:30 PM TNTHD certainly looks nice when running HD movies (in "real" HD, not "stretch-o-vision" of course).
Their NBA coverage seems on par with others I've watched. But with no Sacto Kings in the playoffs, I have little interest.

Looks pretty good to me on V*FIOS system; as just about everything does.
Looks great on my Co system...but looks horrid on neighbors Sat HD (DirectTV).

True. I get it thru Comcast and looks very nice. Have relatives who have D* and E* HD service. Not nearly as nice looking (seems more pixellated).
I know that TNT's L&O HD reruns looks just as good on my set as the current NBC OTA/cable HD broadcasts.
McDonoughDawg 05-07-07, 03:39 PM It all has to do with IF, and I say, IF, TNT is running true HD, or stretch-o-vision. It's fairly easy to tell just by a quick glance.
all TNT playoff games were horrible for me
motion blur, graininess etc
I’ll echo the positive reports about the PQ of TNT’s NBA Playoffs coverage from some who get TNT on cable. I have been watching the playoffs via Cox OKC and the telecasts have looked very good, at least as good as ESPN’s.
Looks great on TWC. PQ in some NBA matches are better than others though.
Same. We have TWC in San Diego as well. TNT sometimes looks excellent, but often looks poor esp. with the stretch-o-vision. Audio lag, commercial breaks, and popups are so atrocious that I usually avoid the channel altogether.
While the NBA games often look good, they have nothing on the awesome looking Padres games on channel 4. Those look incredible!!
trekkerj 05-07-07, 06:42 PM The series Angel aired in HD first run (for later seasons), yet TNT-HD shows a graphic that indicates the show is in HD, but shows the stretched version. Who are they trying to fool, and why can't they get the actual HD version?
mr. wally 05-07-07, 06:53 PM i'm getting pretty bad signal from dish. my warriors were macroblocking to pieces while destroying the mavs. will be pixelating the jazz to pieces starting tonight.
checked with cable subs and they seem to be saying they're not having the same problems that are being widely reported to d* and e* subs. sure looks like sat broadcasts of nba playoffs is a decidely inferior version than what cable subs are getting
IT'S TIME TO COMPLAIN. LET THEM KNOW WE WON'T TAKE THIS CRAP THEY'RE SENDING US!
cwilson 05-08-07, 01:34 AM Excellent on DirecTV .. some games look better than others.
jefbal99 05-08-07, 10:20 AM Pistons games wasn't too bad last night, i was flipping between them and the Wings on FSN HD
JamesDax 05-08-07, 02:37 PM Looks great here on Comcast.
chempez 05-08-07, 11:51 PM yea, it looks sub par here in Austin with TWC on sony 1080p lcd. half time show camera looks better.
StinDaWg 05-12-07, 12:37 AM Half time show looks great. That's about where the praise ends.
dariustos 05-15-07, 02:07 AM they showed Spiderman and The Mask over the weekend and it looked great
SGRSBSKIER 05-15-07, 02:40 AM Hey maybe when all these new HD stations come out in early 2008 enough people will complain about them stretching everything and wonder why out of 50+ HD stations they are the only one that does it.
SOrry to revive old thread, but the BBall game last night looked terrible, even the non-motion scenes like the commentators were blurry. Just got the tv this week, hope I don't have a dud, all the other HD channels look fine.

what carrier? The Lakers game looked fine to me, maybe I'm just used to TNT's quality though
Rutgerskid 02-27-09, 11:31 PM If you think TNT looks bad, try to catch it when Titanic is on...Minus the bug, and the screen garbage, it looks amazing. I'm sure other people on here will tell you the same. It is actually on TBS this weekend, I definitely recommend checking it out!
