I'm going out on a limb saying this game will suck.

It's sad but you are probably right. A transformer game could rock, but since it is going to be a movie tie-in...the odds are against it being good. I don't know if I can remember a movie video game that has ever been better than expected (maybe Chronicles of Riddick).

I agree, it's probably going to be just like everyone other "movie-game" but... I'm a huge transformers fan, so I'll atleast rent it :D

The last Trannsformers game had a hint of good in it. I'm not sold on this one yet, but it is Activision, so it has a chance.

The only positive I've seen about this thing is that they brought back Frank Welker to voice Megatron. Other than that, this game is going to be slag.

Strange that the CE will actually have more levels as well on the software side.

I picked up a budget Transformer game for the PS2 and surprisingly it was above average and had a pretty impressive graphics engine (reminded me of a lower res Far Cry in some ways). I think that was made by somebody else though.

Probably a code that will be on the internet a minute later.

Movie tie in games usually suck because they have a short time to develop and have to release the game close to when the movie comes out in order to cash in on the press. Also the budget for these games are small because they have to pay licensing for the IP.

It is a shame because it really is a great story for a game and could have the potential to be made into an awesome game at some point.

Maybe? Riddick was easily a top 10 game on Xbox.

I'd give my Halo 3 Beta coupon if Transformers was as good as Riddick.

Batman Returns on Sega CD/SNES was pretty decent, but that was well over a decade ago.

But the movie sucked. So what would you rather have: a good TF movie or a good TF game? Cause I don't think we're getting both (unfortunately).

When it comes to my 22yr history with Transformers, I want it all. Thank you Steven Spielburg for making this film, please let it be another War of the Worlds!
(Yes, I know M Bay is directing, but all of the previews say they can tell where Spielburg stepped in and kept M Bay on track.)

We already have a good Transformers movie (the old cartoon one), so I vote for a good game. :)

Check out this little gem of info:

However, our favorite part of the bonus material is the inclusion of a number of playable "generation one" Transformer characters. You can expect to either terrorize or defend the populace with Optimus Prime, Megatron, or Jazz (among others) in all their old-school glory. The game will even feature some bonus missions featuring Transformers that weren't included in the film. We got to see a sequence with Prime fighting Shockwave, who looked very similar to his original incarnation from way back when. However, this version of Shockwave will be a triple-changer, which means he has robot, turret, and helicopter forms.

Guys no movie or game will ever replace the fun it was to actually trade, collect and play with the actual toys back in the day.

And there was always that kid who thought Go-Bots were better.

I just hope the game's diversity doesn't result in mediocrity. They have a lot of thinigs to get right - driving, flying, and all the combat. But I have high hopes for the game.

Also the game devs got Frank Welker to do the voice of Megatron in the game, which should have been done in the movie too. It looks like the devs are really going out of their way to cater to both new and old fans.
