My 360 gives me disc not readable errors and I'm starting to get annoyed. I'd love to get a new premium or even trade up for an Elite. Do I need to bring the whole box and everything in, or can I just bring the Xbox? How do they verify something that is intermittent? Thanks.

My 360 does this every once in a while with certain games (mostly Rainbow 6) so it maybe the game and not the system. If you do want to exchange you need to bring everything in, especially if you plan to get an Elite.
My games are in perfect condition (very very light play) and it does it with a few different games. I heard you can just swap the 360 and keep your HD if replacing a premium, of course trading up to an Elite would include all parts.

Yea all of my games that it happens on (maybe two or three) have been doing it since I bought them, but it is not all games just a few. Very annoying but I deal sine I don't play the 360 very often. Probably right about the premium switch but I would bring everything in and then ask while you are exchanging.

I recently returned my 360 for a new one due to the 3 red light problem. Luckily, I had the 2 year replacement plan with BB. I only brought in the system and forgot the headset and box. So, they gave me a new system (controller and all) and kept the box and headset from the new one.
My friends disc tray intermittenetly wouldn't open and when he tried to exchange per the replacement plan for an elite, they actually tested it at the store. So, they may check at times. I don't think they will all the time though. You would just have to be lucky I suppose.

it depends on how often this occurs.
let's face it, game systems have locked up throughout history, and will continue to do so.
i haven't had one lock up on me yet, it's just the nature of the beast.
i've had it happen to me, like 4-5 times in 9 months, and i play a lot. oblivion seems to be the big winner, with 3 of the lockups.
after the first time it happened, and i had to go through a stealth shrine all over again, i made sure to save often. :)
don't expect it to be perfect. it'll happen occasionally. i wonder if it's more or less likely to happen if your box is vertical vs. horizontal.

Even a perfectly good 360 will periodically claim that a game disc cannot be read or otherwise recognized. I have no clue why this is, but it's almost always cleared up simply by taking the disc out, turning the unit off, and starting over again. I don't see that there's any point in replacing a system unless it has frequent problems; a lock-up here and there is to be expected, as noted above, and can even be due to bugs in the game itself.

Your asking about a PRP(performance replacement plan)
They would basically try and do what u say it is doing and recommend a cleaner since u never mention that you have tried that step. (goes back home with new cleaner for disc and player or one or the other)
