Hi everyone,

I'm getting ready to replace the DZ board in my 34XS955. I know from the blink codes that the DZ board is the problem. I've worked on TVs before, but this TV seems more complex than the ones I've seen. Is the DZ board the large board with the flyback transformer on the bottom left when looking at the TV from the rear? (The other boards seem to be well labelled, but I can't seem to find 'DZ' anywhere.)

Can anyone offer any tips on the procedure?

My HS510 was recently repaired, under warranty, with a new (rebuilt) D board. It was exhibiting a 6 blink code and would not power on. I believe the D board is equivalent to the DZ board on the later models but I don't have my XS955/XBR960 service manual with me at the moment to verify this. Physically, it was on the left side when facing the rear of the tv, and is a horizontal board about 12X14 inches.

I'm an electronics tech but since it was covered under warranty, did not get involved in the repair. I watched the operation and it seemed very straight forward. One issue to consider is the tech ordered a new anode lead along with the board, stating that it was difficult to remove. After he removed the old board, I tried removing the anode lead by twisting and pulling, like a BNC connector, and it didn't budge. From inspection of the new lead, it appears to be a one time use connector. The act of removing it may damage it.

The other two leads were pulled from the flyback with needlenose pliers and the shaft of a screwdriver laid on the transformer as a fulcrum. The connections are tinned wire pushed into a spring? loaded socket.

It has confirmed what the DZ board is.

Did he have to disconnect the leads to the input/output section on the back of the TV before removing that portion?

(I wish I had a service manual.)
