my sony vl900 is losing range. I put in new batteries and same thing. it is not getting signal. No lights on HD tivos are flashing unless it's directly pointed at tivo. Used to be you could pretty much have it facing anyway in the room to get it to respond.

other than cleaning the windows, is there anything i can rip apart and fix?

one other thing, if i point it totally away from my setup in certain positions, it WILL work the TV but in the same exactly position will not make the tivo lights flash

Remotes do give out, if you can find another vl900, you could clone the old one to it. No need to reprogram then.

how would i do that? (or is it in the book?)

nooooo dont say they give out. Ive had this only maybe 2 years if that and i cant see spending that again even if i can find one. Then again i'm so used to it maybe i have to.

Check output of remote against an am radio tuned to a station..usually ir will make noise on radio in burst..also have you added any kind of flourescent lighting or energy saving bulbs in area..these can reduce range

nope nothing at all has changed here. ..in december i started a wireless a/b/g network but i assume since it was never an issue before, it's not now

ill have to try the radio thing
