View Full Version : New Sony projector sighting.
Alan Gouger 05-09-07, 10:39 AM Found this is the screen section talking about the new black screen which does look cool.
As far as the projector cant wait for details on the new ruby or Qualia. Glad to see 1080p 24 becoming a standard.

Catdaddy67 05-09-07, 10:55 AM Thanks Sony! I wonder if this thing will street before JVC finishes with the AVS RS1 pre-orders! 8) Might be something for some folks to wait on!
The price will be about 1,400 Euro. Which will be translating into $1,400 USD I assume. Release is supposed to be in June 2007.
Hmm, anyone taking any bets? 8)

Nahhh, those are the lower end LCD models. ;)
The VPL-VW60 and VPL-VW200 are the ones the RS-1 waiting pre-buyers might be interested in. I would think Sony has/add the RS-1 in their sights for those models. If Sony releases them soon JVC is going to loose orders....

Did I miss someting? This press release talks about the Sony BRAVIA VPL-AW15 which states that it is a 720P LCD based machine for around $1400. Hardly something to wait for if you have an RS1 ordered.
Catdaddy67 05-09-07, 11:04 AM 12,000 to 1 contrast ratio, 24fps, 1,300 lumens, and $1400. Id wait to see what that is about if I hadnt already got my HD1. 8)
Id love to see some more about the VPL-VW60 and the VPL-VW200. Sony doesnt have any problems meeting demand (in less than 4 months), specially their pre-order allocations. 8) Lets hope these have a nice processor, vertical stretch, and CMS.

You forgot... 720p.....

And zone based pixel shift.

Catdaddy67 05-09-07, 11:09 AM Oh crap, didnt want to see that 720p part. 8( Bummer, I thought "Revenge of the Eager and Forgotten US Buyers" was arriving to Home Theaters everywhere in June.

CMS spoiled me on the Ruby. Its a must!
Erik Garci 05-09-07, 11:38 AM $1400 < $3000
Should this be moved to another forum?
Catdaddy67 05-09-07, 11:42 AM No official word on US MSRP. $1400 euro approximates $3000 US, plus it has relevance to a lot of posters on these forums currently. We listen to talk about HD-DVD and Blu-ray and video processors on this part of the forums, too.
Besides, Alan is the man - he can post it wherever he wants. 8)

I appreciate that but whats good for the goose is good for the gander. If that is the price Erik has a point.
Moved to the right forum.

1400 Euro = 1900 USD, according to XE.com (http://www.xe.com/).
MikeSRC 05-09-07, 11:55 AM There's will be a review of the AW-15 on projectorreviews.com any day now.
gwlaw99 05-09-07, 12:59 PM Does accepting 1080p/24 matter if it can only display at 720p/60 or can it display at 720p 24/48/72?

Already is one on cine4home with pretty good on/off numbers. :) This is probably my next pj to upgrade to from HS-51.
