Hey i live in vegas area, have this box. did diaq on it and it said the firewire port was inactive???

yet when connected to my media box, it detects it and ask for a driver. I just built this box, with about 1.8TB of sotrage and iam torn between possibly just offloading via firewire, or going for a happauge or hd home run type of deal. I watch very little shows, so occasinal back up of live feeds with VLC or something would be fine, my standalone dvd recorder will be used mostly for any other recordings, which ive done for ages off the 8000 box.

should i just take this back down to cox and pick up the 8300? or will the 8240 be fine ..iit does have esata which i may end up using..i mean whare the main diffrences between this and 8300?

p.s. for the life of me i can not get the cable box out of sleep mode, say i leave it on a channel etc. it just powers off to a grey screen, audio in background. i checked for screen savers, or other power options, and set it up to "always on" in settings...

pretty silly question probably, and iam sure its something very simple.

i mean whare the main diffrences between this and 8300?The 8300 series has analog tuners and MPEG encoders (for recording analog channels). The 8240 series ... does not.
