I keep getting the "there are some copy protected areas....." message on my Pio 531, it's driving me nuts. Everything copies fine, but that message appears every time I turn the unit on, and every time a new recording starts. I have to press display to remove it. Any way to get rid of this?

Are these scheduled recordings? That message sometimes appears if the signal source is weak or if it's coming from a videotape that has unrecorded areas on it (for example, the static that appears at the end of a new recording that was recorded over and older one).

It basically appears every time I turn the recorder on...

Well, I have no idea what it could be.
It might be worth a try to disconnect all of the inputs (coax, S-Video, composite and audio cables) and leave only the output connected to the TV, then see if you get the message when you turn it on. That might at least indicate whether there's something wrong with the recorder itself, or with something it's seeing on an input.

Thanks very much, Sean. I'll give that a try.
