View Full Version : The Shield
Grandude 05-09-07, 09:24 PM The Shield
I'm surprised that there isn't a thread on this show, in my HO, a very excellent cop show.
Lots of complex characters and a great story line.
For now, for me anyway, it beats out Law and Order, Jericho, and a few others.
Mike4HDTV 05-09-07, 10:10 PM It's one of the best shows on tv but it's not in HD so that's why there is no thread on it.
Love the show...it really has me guessing what they're gonna do with the characters.....(is Vic gonna retire or go to jail? Is he gonna clip Shane for whacking Lem...? Stay tuned....)
Best show on US television.....only a few more episodes left. :(
celticpride 05-09-07, 10:39 PM I saw an interview with vic ,he said next season will be the last, hopefully FX will be in HD by then, and we'll at least see the last season of the sheild in HD.
bphisig 05-09-07, 10:51 PM I started recording the re-runs on Spike TV when they showed the Pilot episode a few weeks ago. I have not missed an episode and I'm definitely hooked. Great, great show. It's kind of like 3rd Watch without the firemen, and with way more edge, if that makes any sense.

I refuse to watch this show on another channel besides "FX"... On Spike TV and other stations it will be edited so badly that it is unwatchable.
I've been waiting for FX to be in HD for the longest.. most of my favorite shows are on that channel....Nip/Tuck, The Shield, The Riches, and Dirt.

I just recently got into it myself. I think it is the most compelling show on television, and as addictive as crack. Started with the Spike, but now I'm just going to my local video store where I can rent a complete season on DVD for $7.00 - no edits, no commercials, and interesting commentary. And love that theme song!

scottro 05-10-07, 02:29 PM Still the best show on television for my money. Half the time I can't fall asleep after it ends.
lacombo 05-10-07, 06:18 PM LMAOD, another Shield thread (6 shows in to S6) and once again started in the HD section when FX has no HD yet. a mod should merge all 3 or 4.
and because its in the non-hd section no one comes to it.
Grandude 05-11-07, 03:21 PM I'm sorry I started this thread in the HD section. I did a rudimentary search and found nothing so I asked the question there.
turansformer 05-11-07, 03:25 PM I'm curious if The Shield will remain in 4:3 SD or jump to 16:9 HD if FX makes the switch. I know that The Wire kept its 4:3 SD format when most other HBO shows went HD because the format was crucial to the gritty realistic world portrayed in it. I'm willing to bet The Shield would follow suit.
TheWinstonWolf 07-20-08, 06:54 PM man im sure hoping the shield gets bumped to HD format (i came here looking to see if there was any news of that)...but either way...the shield is one of the best shows to ever hit the television, no matter what format it gets produced in...looking forward to seeing the final season...and encouraging all others to watch...there wont be too many more shows like this.
pruizgarcia 07-22-08, 12:44 PM This one is a favorite of mine. I think the final season starts in September?
TheWinstonWolf 08-17-08, 04:53 PM I probably responded to this before the messages got erased, but yeah the final (tear) season starts on sept. 2nd...i'll be zeroed in on the tv.
I post to this long dormant thread to report that the last two seasons of The Shield are available on Netflix streaming. The earlier seasons are available from the NF DVD catalog. I missed seeing any of this wonderful series on TV but had read some rave reviews about in various threads. Several threads in other forums have been locked by the mods, apparently, because this was supposed to be the place to post about it. If that's no longer correct, then I would appreciate it if any mod who objects to this posting here tell me where it should go.
The last two seasons of The Wire were among the finest of any TV show I can recall. The finale simply blew me away. It was thoughtful, exciting, and heartbreaking. I am now arranging for the DVDs from earlier seasons, so I can watch it all. Heretofore, I had always listed NYPD Blue and The Wire as the greatest of all police procedurals but The Shield is greater still. Trust me on this.
