Always stop by electronics in Walmart and the Magnavox ZC352MW8 and the Philips DVDR3505 rear panel is exactly the same. Same dimensional layout and connectors in the same spot and all..to a T. Also the overall dimensions are the same for both units. I noticed on the box the Magnavox is made by Funai.

The only thing that is different is minor differences of layout of the front panel.

Whats the chances that these units are the same, just repackaged for different manufacturers?

Now I am not sure if I got the right Philips model cause on the one I looked at it didnt have HDMI output or I overlooked it.

Philips owns Magnavox. It appears to me that the Magnavox is a lower-end version of the Philips - same except it doesn't play Divx and doesn't have HDMI. Similar to the differences between the Panasonic EZ17 and EZ27. Philips has done this in the past with other products, marketing a lower-end model as a Magnavox. GE also did this with RCA and Thomson.

Funai makes products for a lot of brands, including Philips/Magnavox, so I would have to believe the 3505 is made by Funai as well.
