No, 720P max but I'll say, on my Pio 5070, Blood Diamond HD looked amazing.

I think 1080p movies would be too big of a download.

yeah it would at minimum double the filesize making them much harder to download.

i for one think 720p is the best we will be getting for a while download service wise and really 720p looks great.

And only 5.1 DD but there's a bunch of movies that don't even offer that..

How big are the 720 downloads? I don't have an X360 but the PS3 store has 1080P trailers for almost everything. I'm not trying to brag I'm just trying to understand why they can't have 1080p trailers.

720p trailers on the 360 are ~110 megs. And full movies are ~6 gigs for 2 hr movie.

From what I remember 2 min trailers in 1080p on the ps3 are ~230 megs. So about 2x as big so if sony ever offers movies for download @1080p file sizes should be ~12 gigs and imo thats far too large of a download. If sony ever does anything this gen in the movie dept i think they are gonna do 720p as well.

Honestly I prefer keeping everything you download on the 360 at 720p. It gives you a good quality video thats not going to take forever to download and its the same quality for everything on the store.

Ok so ya twice as big for the 1080p. At least with the PS3 you get the option of 1080P if you have a fast connections and a 720P download if you don't. I think MS should at least offer people a 1080P download if they have a capable TV and connection. Just my opinion though.

Who cares about 1080 anyways... if you sit too far away from your t.v. the human eye can't tell the difference anyways.

A lot of people care about 1080p, including me. It's not my fault if you sit to far away from the TV and can't tell the difference. From the sound of your post you probably don't have a 1080p set anyway.

I have my space setup for the optimal viewing distance for my TV and listening distance for my speakers. I enjoy 1080P and am just saying MS should offer a 1080P option. I wasn't attacking anyone.

Edit:looking at your posts I see you have 720p projector that at least tells me you should know enough about home theater not to make ignorant statements like the one above.

I have a 65 inch 1080p plasma 10 feet away right in the sweet spot so 1080p matters for me.
and I have 20/10 vision :)

ive got a 720p projector too..... but im one of those that really doesn't buy into the 1080p hype.

Sure there is a small difference but even on 1080p sets alot of the time you cant tell much of a difference. I actually like that there is one "HD" format and one "SD" format. It makes everything more standardized.

But then again the ps3 1080p trailers and whatnot are still only 2.0 stereo arent they? that to me is a much worse travesty than not having 720p. The 5.1 mix is usually quite good on the 360 downloadable stuff.

I sit close enough to my 60" SXRD to tell the difference between 1080p and 720p (assuming a constant level of mastering quality).

However, one point you guys might not have considered, is that the 360 does a descent job scaling the 720p content to 1080i/p. In this case, the 720p movies/trailers often look better than 720p content on other devices (assuming your 360 outputs to 1080i or 1080p). It is still not true 1080p, but it is not too bad either (IMO).

They are stereo and I agree the 360 does a good job of upscaling from what I've seen.

I'm not too annoyed by not having 5.1 on a 1-2 minute trailer and even though they are stereo they do hit my sub more for some reason.

1080p content makes a big difference for my CRT's native resolution.

I sit really close to my small HDTV and 853x1080 is much sharper than 853x720.
