I apologize if this has been covered before. I searched in advance, and almost fell asleep sifting through the VGA hits.

I have a 360 Elite hooked up to an Onkyo TX-SR804, then out to a Panasonic TH-50PX60U, via HDMI. In the system blade, if I change to 1080p, all looks fine, but my TV will flash black at random times, like the video format or input has changed. My receiver doesnt display an error and sound is not broken or distorted when this happens. My TV on other hand, has major problems with this elite. The screen flashing happens when in game, watching a DVD, just navigating blades...etc. I have not noticed it while watching a HD-DVD, but to be honest, I havent watched one from start to finish yet. The problem is most noticeable when trying to pick a profile to sign in with. Screen goes completely black and does not come back until I pick a profile, just going from sound. I could deal with this screen flashing when going from game to dash, video to dash, etc...but not in the middle of a game or while surfing the blades. Im not using the MS HDMI cable anymore, to rule that out.

I havent tried pluging the elite directly into the TV because, well, that defeats the purpose for me. This issue doesnt show itself when going back to 1080i, which again defeats the purpose for investing in the Elite.

Anyone else experiencing this problem? And yes, I have applied the Spring Update. I guess I can just switch to 1080p when watching a HD-DVD, but thats a slight inconvienience...one I can live with if I absolutely must, I guess.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like another 1080p issue. Call MS so they can document another one...

You should try it. If your receiver is the problem which IMO it most likely is you can find this out for yourself. Pass through/switching is a tricky business that older versions of HDMI compliance have issues with. My money says if you hook directly to the TV you won't see that problem.

Interested to hear what you find. :)

Same exact issue when going straight to TV. I know what handshaking issues look like on the receiver( get no signal flashing on the display), so I knew the receiver wasnt at fault. There are several other posts on the xbox forums with this same issue...I see more action and creative input on this forum, which is why I posted here.

I also failed to mention that I have a Toshiba A2 HD-DVD player hooked up to the receiver in the same fashion, 1080p with no issues. Ive also had a friend bring his ps3 over and connect via HDMI through receiver, again, 1080p no problems.

There is no magical answer here. Notify MS and hope that they put out a patch or something.

I guess you could try some creative solutions, but it would probably be more pain that it is worth. You could try something crafty, like running it through a converter in the hopes that it spits it out in a signal friendly way for your TV. However, most converters will probably just pass it through.

I looked up your TV and it doesn't say anywhere that is supports 1080p. It says the native resolution is 1366 x 768 pixels. Maybe you should try 720p?
