Hey guys, I have an Optoma hd70 and was wondering what you guys do as regular maintenance. Didn't find much on a search and the manual is useless on this topic. I'm sure there is some info in the official or tweakers thread but that's a lot of reading!

Just looking for info on cleaning the lens(still not sure if it's glass or plastic as some have said) and if there are any filters to clean as there are on other projectors. I have read that it's not a good idea to blow the dust out with canned air as you can get dust blobs. This is my first projector and I want to keep it running to peak performance. Thanks.

Maintenance? What maintenance?

Lens cleaning - Use a non-abrasive, lint free cloth.

The HD 70 needs no maintenance. I would not even clean the lens unless you get fingerprints on it--normal dust does not really degrade an image. The optical path is sealed, so there is no need to blow compressed air into the unit. There are no filters to clean in the 70.

It's an easy beast to take care of--just turn it on and enjoy!

Best,

Brian

Has anyone found a solution to the lens cap problem? It takes a while to firmly put it in place. Is it okay to leave the lens uncovered always?

Sweet, I like no maintenance, if only my car and house were so easy. Thanks guys.

I forgot it had one - must be up on top of it. Never used one day.
