Hi!

A couple of days ago I started noticing something strange in my AX100. Suddenly the darkest pixels in the picture turn into light - and bright - ones. Not white but as either red, green or blue. Imagine a night scene in a movie where the darkest parts of the shadows turn into a R/G/B pixels. It looks a bit like mosquito noise. And It is kind of distracting :(

I can correct the problem by going into project menu and adjusting the picture (example: turn contrast one notch up and then down) and the problem is gone ...for a while. But it usually appears again during the same movie.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I've noticed this as well on my PJ. I've only had it about a week so far, but this has happened twice, in both cases watching a HD-DVD over HDMI from a Toshiba HD-A2. I changed the picture mode from Cinema 1 to Normal and then back again and it went away and did not return for the rest of the movie. I haven't noticed it happening when I watch HD over component from my Dish PVR.

I remember seeing the seam effect on my brothers IF 5000 when he was trying out new upscaling DVD players. He went through 3 before he found ons that didn't have the same effect in the dark areas. That was also over HDMI.

It seems I'm not the only one with these symptoms. I'm using HDMI with my Denon DVD-player and the problem disapears if adjusting the picture. So, it's HDMI related.

Since I have the 1.09 firmware in my AX100 I wonder what that 1.10 upgrade might include...

I'm also on the 1.09 firmware.
