I've tried searching the forums, but haven't found anything specific to my question. Also if this is not the correct forum to be posting this, please let me know.

Just got FiOS TV installed with the Verizon supplied DVR (Motoral QIP 64??) . The unit is running VERY hot. When on, I can place my hand on top of the unit for about 1.5 sec before it becomes uncomfortable enough to make me pull my hand away. When OFF, the unit is STILL quite hot... maybe 110-120 F, maybe more...

Is this normal? Should I contact Verizon? If it is normal, it sure seems like a unreasonable use of power. I plan on hooking up my kill-a-watt unit to the device to see how much electricity it is sucking down.

Thanks for any input you may have...

Give it time. There'll be more HD material coming the more people adopt it

The proper thread for this question is the Fios 6416 sticky thread in the HDTV Recorders forum at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=617635. It should not be running that hot.

There are also Verizon Fios related threads in the HDTV Reception Hardware and HD Programming forums.
